Does anyone know the distance from the yellow gate to Upper Oilcan and what the average grade of the road is?
Just curious

if you're in good shape 40 min ride, the first 15 is the hardest. If you're not in shape then expect it to take 1 1/2 hours.

Here's a profile from last years twoonie race of the road from the water tower to 7th, which is about 5 min. past Upper Oilcan.
I'd say the climb is about 5km from the yellow gate with varying grades no greater than 7%. The x-axis is time.

maybe find out the base elevation of the grouse gondola and the top. and maybe the base elevation of the quad up there, that should help.

From a topo map, it looks like the yellow gate is at about 300 metres, and Upper Oil can is at 740 metres. Don't know the distance of the road up to there.
The grade on Seymour feels a fair bit steeper, and it's 10% (about 100 metres climb for every kilometre of road). I'd think the distance to Upper Oil Can from the gate is around 6km.
