Was hanging out at the bottom seeing a few people haven't seen in a while, the only trails not open were all of Garbo (obviously), Angry Pirate, Fantastic, Crank it Up and ClownShoes and National course. Other then that everything is doable according to must riders, not too muddy, Upper Aline is spongy in a few spots, nothing in the Boneyard at all.....not the opening madness like last year...not busy at all....lots of new bikes too....

Like my new-to-me 05 Shore! It'll be my first season on a big bike! I'll be riding Monday, and like Ross, I can't wait to fly either!

conditions are pretty dam good, a few muddy spots so googles are a must, but other than that its great. Also bring sun screen cause my arms are burnt after riding from 10:30 - 2:00.

Come on ..... somebody give us a detailed update??? How is A-Line ... what about Dirt Merchant??? Good and bad points ... mud sections, wet sections .... somebody give us something other than what we have so far....

well, it was pretty sweet... Not many peeps there today, so no line ups.
Most of the trails are open.... except for teh Dirty Merchant :-( , Angry Pirate, Crab Apple, Crank it up..

A-line has a couple of wet spots, and one nasty mud trap...otherwise it's dry top to bottom..There is a new giant stepdown/table right after the rock drop just before the double berm....

umm, Heart of Darkness has some nice new stuff, including a huge booter, and a massive burm... rail that sucker.

Also the ride over to B-line, Slayer, etc from the chair is hike through snow.....Watch for skiers heading to the gondie...

Thats about it. get up there... it was an awesome opening day.

1st Day!!

Went up today
Not a big line up onto the chair lift , came off the GLC Drops , then 2 seconds later I floating over the "bare" boneyard
Upper A Line : Muddy - some spots were up to a foot of mudd, but
the first new table top , is way bigger , and more lippy
Lower A line : Perfect , mint berms to rail, and lippy table tops to trick,
good time to ride it , not dusty , not muddy
Upper B Line : muddy , not very different
Lower B Line : Nice Flowy , good condition
NEW TRAIL! Devils Club : Kinda Tech , lots of ladder bridges all the way down
rated blue
Heart Of Darkness : NEW BEGINNING! Lots of big tables , with huge berms , and step ups , caution VERY Soft
Crack Addict : Same as last year (I think) little bit muddy
Schleyer & Joyride : Muddy , not a very good rip yet . needs to dry

BoneYard (what is there) Wall Ride and Octopus are open
Easy Dos It,Dirt Merchant,Golden Triangle: about 5 feet of snow on there still
next week , it might be open

ok i was in the village yesturday cruisin around for the day and some random guy i was talking to, ohhh yea it was this guy whos place i was lookin at to move too, said that there another lift opening for biking, but i was like oooo yeaaaa coool sure buddy. so any truth to this or was i right by brushing his comment off.

There wasn't 5 feet of snow on Dirt Merchant when I was there in late March. As for Garbo, who knows what the weather is gonna be like during the next couple of months.....

Heart of Darkness sounds pretty rad.

I'm surprised they are staying open during the week. It would seem to make more sense to let the trails dry out so they don't have to do the same kind of repair they had to do to Garbo last year.

Awesome first day for me, there was one section on A-line that had a shitload of mud, and some new littler kicker that got worked over by everyone, had 7 inch deep ruts in it, they out me over the bars one time.

I was stoked on the very first jump on A-line, got a few clicked x-ups over it.

the new lift the guy was referring to was probably the one at the base of blackcomb . . . .

i took 6 laps this afternoon : all b-line to devils' club to heart of darkness . every round better than the one before it . the new stuff on heart is so good . just what that trail needed . i love the left hander fallaway drop into the big right berm .

things are still damp and will be for a while til all that surface snow goes . was weird crossing oly in snow pushing the bike while the skiers and snowboarders were zipping by .

that left hander was pretty fun...

and i super enjoyed riding Devils club for most of the day...

mostly it was just good to be back up in Whistla enjoying the riding and the vibe with so many fellow riders...

BIG smile for Kohut, cheering on the first guys seated for the ride up the Fitz to break in the 06 Bike park season...

EPIC day for sure....

i heard ( from a good source ) they are going to rebuild a single track bypass on the heart to go around the new booters they have built .

didn't do any a-lines today . . . gonna wait for a quiet weekday to do a roll through inspection of the new work .

well i must say that was probably my best opening day, i felt super rusty but had such a good day. i was expecting alot more mud there was just a couple sections on aline that were a little muddy. the lips were all sweet, and the lack of people was soo sweet and the weather was perfect, i got the worst farmers tan though. i had never ridden heart of darkness but was plesntly suprised a few sweet jumps and a huge berm, but i still spent most of the day on aline, that first jump is so killer right now. and the aline line rock drop seemed tiny, maybe i just didn rember it right but it was so smooth. the only lame thing was the lack of riding my buddy was doing, so i ended up alone for alot of it, but meh. i almost said something to you rosscofat but didnt feel like doing the i know you from the intra web, i followed you down aline for a bit, but obviously coulndt keep up with ur superhuman skillz, i was in the bright green ripper shirt on the bighit. all in all it was such a chill and sweet day and im so happy i made it up, now just to gather some more money so i can make another trip

WHISTLER IS MINT. cant describe it any better. it felt like summer

a line VERY TINY bit muddy in maybe 1 or 2 spots AT THE MOST! and thats it. rest of a line = MINT MINT MINT. best opening day I ever had and it was on a gay dually!!!!!

good ride though great times! like everyone else says the aline jumps are lippier, o nly takes a few runs to get back into your groove though.
fantastyk is like a big river though. and that new trail with all the ladders is pretty fun for a blue run. until you run into one of the trees lol
its rite beside the entrance to crack addict just so everyone knows. also heart of darkness is pretty fun.
its jumpy now!!
anyways everyone enjoy hopefuly getting back up soon!

I was up on the Sunday and it was AWESOME! A-Line was the best I think I've ever seen it. CrabApple Hits opened in the afternoon and was SHAWEET ... feels good to send her large on opening day.

Only comment to make is on the new table top after the A-Line Rock Drop. If you drop the Rock quickly and rail the burm out you NEED to brake hard before the table, its a touch short for the amount of speed you can attain.

Anyone see a guy hobbling around like there was something wrong with him? It was me haha. I broke my right big toe on my 3rd run, but still did 15 more. It was the fuckin stupidest thing ever. I took a few runs early in the day to hit the wall, and one time as i was going though one of those drainage ditches in the boneyard and i SMOKED my foot on a fucking rock. Someone prob saw me and what thinking wtf? Yeah my toe is fuuuucked. Anyways, opening day rocked.
