View Full Version : Super D course?
Dantes Inferno

Last I checked it was unknown. Id like to get a preride in with my team.
Anyone got any solide facts other than beginning around CBC and ending around Empress.
BTW? Time bonus for not taking the bypass?
From the Ripper1 write up:
"The route will begin on CBC, head into TNT then upper Dales then up Mushroom and across Incline to lower Corkscrew. It will then roll down Pingu, into Team Pangor and then finish up with Empress."

I've been informed there will be a surprise ending (not Empress in other words, nor the by-pass).
I'm hoping they don't rope off the stunts - I have no hope in winning or doing well so might as well try and have a clean no dab run with all stunts.

im stoked for the super HIke-a-bike DH course.
the 15minutes hike a bike from mid-dales up to Lower Corkscrew is good times. everyone loves a good solid hike in a DH race, more flow, you know.
personally i am stoked the course was not just: "CBC, head into TNT then upper Dales then down Mushroom and up the Powerlines to Pingu, into Team Pangor and then finish up with Empress." ... i mean TNT, Cabin, Dales, Powerlines and Pangor are all pretty much straight-DH runs with no hills or pedalling, so definitely need a solid hike a bike to get some pedalling in ...

TheGiggler - why didn't you do the first Ripper - I thought you'd be all over that? I assume you're in for the SuperD (team of 2 or 4?)
As for you previous post: do I detect sarcasm??? :)
Going up Mushroom is indeed mostly a hike-a-bike (those little rock drops are kinda hard to clean going UP).
It'll be interesting to see whose serious about the race and who plans to hit all the stunts in an effort to clean them for the heck of it. My team is Team DFL (Dead F Last :D ) so I might as well live up to the name and hit the stunts.

no sarcasm.
i think the race has a good mix of about 70% of the time flats or climbs and 30% of the time downhill... just need to change the name from "Super D" to "Super Shore XC/DH/hike-a-bike" ...

only a fat, out of shape hack would be complaining that this course has too much pedaling
The hike a bike section will be a great place to add some liquid carbs

I think the course has made a race out of a typical Seymour shore ride, which was probably the intention.
I'll be working on the course somewhere, maybe camera in hand, so smile.

gauntlet thrown.
Giggler vs. Synchro......it's go time. I think you guys should pre-race it.

It will be interesting if we get a lot of rain - that creek (on TNT) that's missing the bridge will be fun to cross!
What bike are people planning to use? I have no option as my big bike's cranks are hooped (until I can get around to picking up my new cranks) and my partner's big bike has cracks in the frame and he's still waiting for warentee so we're using our all around 6x6 bikes. I'm guessing most will be riding big rigs.
Given the course I doubt theirs much advantage to either an 5x5 or a DH bike
Definitely not riding the DH bike.

Oh - Sharon was saying that team members must arrive within 5s of each other otherwise a 1min. penalty plus diff of 2nd rider - 1st rider.
I wonder if they'll have additional check points with similar requirements (e.g. finishing CBC they could check team times and require everyone together within 5s etc.)

i dont care to pedal, i just dont get why a course with about 70% pedalling and 30% DH is called a "Super DH"? it's super shore XC with some DH thrown is, is what it is... which is cool cause it's not like 7th ripper was there for those who wanted to pedal and hurt doing so.
and yeah, i think a 5x5 bike would be perfect. if it was not for the chunder on TNT/cabin i think a full on XC bike would take it... t
I'm just curious, if I want to pre-ride the course based on the description on the ripper1 write up, how do I avoid getting run over when I'm pedalling up across incline? I can just see some afterwork neds crowd bombing down on their way to Neds and see me and my buddy going up the other way and say WTF?

You tried to kill me on dales...... Im still sweating from that one.
Im getting into cross country with my old man like the good ol' days in squish. Gonna bring my fitness up.
Im going to state the winner of the 4 man team will be not the best riders. But who can stay as a unit and ride within their limit consistantly with the least stops. Pretty much riding conservative.

You seemed better after you cut loose whatever had died inside of you on the second part.

The second part must have been DH then.
Getting better though, 192lbs. But more cardio and muscle than before.

If you are planning to get a good time don't do the stunts.
If you figure you're going to be so far from the podium you'll need binoculars to see it then do the stunts for fun. That's what I'll be doing.

Throw in an old school trail like C*nt Buster instead of Team Pangor. That trail is great and will show people there is more to ride on Semour than shuttling Neds or Pingu Pangor all day. If you a are a good all round rider you will do well in this event because you need fitness of an XC rider and the skills of a DH'er.
NORBA is running a full Super D series this year.

I don't think C*nt Buster needs or can handle the abuse of race traffic.

yes but NORBA superD is just a wee bit different from a Ripper Super D.. only Mark Weir, and Hestler (after last time's display) would have a chance..

Anyone want to join a team that's riding for fun? A solid female rider would round out our team of 2 guys and 1 girl (Princess of the Powerline). PM me.

I meant you've been riding for a few years and ride twice or more a week. Not looking for someone who hasn't ridden in the last month.
But, the position is now filled. We're a 3 man, 1 princess team.

The route will be: down CBC , TNT, Cabin , upper Dales to Mushroom (not powerline). Up Mushroom, across incline, down lower Corkscrew, down the powerline, down Pingu followed by Team Pangor and then finally Empress. Giddy up!

I suspect the course will be fine big bikes. I would say, the climbing will make up < 20% of the total distance.
But I'll know more today as I plan on pre-riding it on my big bike.

give it a pre-ride and then come back and say that
pretty sure i will be doing this on a 5x5 bike. the 5% of sections where long travel helps dont make up for the 30-40% of sections where there is pedalling/climbing ... and the other 40% or so is smooth enough that mid-travel bike won't lose much ...

Hey John,
What time are you planning on heading up? I'm heading up but don't know the route all that well.
We know each other from Fromme. I'm Kevin that rides the Giant. Saw you at the last ripper.
Anyway I'll be around Lazy bay at 430 or so. Let me know if you want to hook up.
