Road trip to Fernie in July. Then to Golden, Invermere, Revelstoke, Kamloops, Kelowna and home to North Van. Anywhere to ride in Fernie other than the BP? I know across the valley from the mountain there's supposed to be some awesome shuttling. If anyone has ridden out there or can point me in the right direction we'd all appreciate it. Thanks!

I heard the microwave tower is the spot to hit.
You can see it across the valley from the BP.

Another fun rip which I have done is up the road past the provincial campground. Take the first right, up a steep climb, first trail on the right.
Can't remember what it's called.

Fernie alpine resort is quite fun too.

Hedonism.

I'd would ask around in any of the multiple bike shops in town. They will sell you a map for $10 which has every trail in Fernie on it. Well worth the $10 in my mind...

Hedonism!

That's it for sure.
We were camping at the base of it (now it's blocked off so you can't camp there anymore) and a couple other bikers shuttled by. They stopped and we asked them where they were heading. Come with us they said.

Hedonism followed.

Good stuff. Short rip, but fun.
Ended right back where we were camping.
Beers all around.

check out Straight Line (a bike shop) when you get to fernie. ask those guys and they'll be able to help you out. the town site has alot of trails around it... up in by the dump. i cant remember if it was straight line (as this was years ago) but we ended up getting shown around by some shop guys after their shop closed for the day. you can spend about 2-3 days at the BP max. the off-mountain riding is infinitely better IMO.

Whats the scenario right now in Fernie for riding - is all the snow off the trails? Or will it be another fee weeks. I am trying to plan a bit of biking into my 'return to work in Alberta trip' that I am inevitably doing in a week or so...

Just as a note, majority of the trails (excluding the hill) are better suited for trail/XC bikes. The microwave tower is an off camber hiking trail that's steep and involves alot of riding/dragging the brakes .... not my cup of tea but alot people seem to like it. It's kinda like riding the sand chutes at the bottom of Oasis (Rossland/Trail) except with rocks. The bottom half is a different trail and can be shuttled seperately ... much better.

Hedonism is mostly flat and in bad shape (last season anyways) .... think old school. It's more of a short travel, pedally bike trail.

Definitely visit Straight Line for the goods. They have excellent trail maps available that are easy to read and follow. Good guys.
