I am considering exposing my son to BMX racing but quite honestly I dont know where the nearest races take place. I live on the shore. I think it might be a good sport for him and as we know the great ones often come from that background.

Any links or contacts?

I bet John Henry's has some great info. My nephew just got into BMX through the ABA here in Kelowna. He is 7 and is absolutely loving it. They even have a class for over 40. Everyone can do it and it is all about fun. Good Luck!

if you want to get your son into bmx racing there is a track in ridge meadows, surrey and abbotsford, there is also a track in langley but its aba, and i dont know how soon but there is a track going in somewhere in north van.

somewhere in North Van would be sweet. The kid just turned eight and can ride pretty well.

Your best bet is going out to addotsford to the tracks out there.

i dont think there's anything in northvan, the closest is likely ridgemeadows in maple ridge. it's a good track, great vibe, great people.

All of the local tracks have contact information on their websites and we all run free gate practice on Monday night after 6:00, or come out to the track any time and ride it. Here in Abbotsford we are always open to the public. On race days we groom the track and set up the gate. You can sign up to race on any race day. You will need to buy a membership for $77 and $5 to race. The best bike is a 20" wheel bike for beginners, he need a full-face helmet long pants and long sleeves to race. Practice day is more casual but good gear is recommended.

ridge meadows bmx is having an open house tomorrow from 1-3, there will be race bikes to ride and helmets incase you dont have your own, then there will be racing at 4 if you want to check it out some more
