Here we go again!

This time around I tried to make it easier and have the registration/payment flow a little easier so people don't get confused.

Here are the details

This is a 2 person or 4 person event. Please make sure that you check ether 2 or 4 person when doing your registration.

Please also talk to your team members and decide on who your captain will be and when doing the registration enter that person in the required field.

all people in the 2 person and 4 person MUST REGISTER AND PAY and to make our life easy please make sure you all enter the SAME CAPTAIN.

there is a 120 person limit again on this race

If you do not yet have your cycling BC membership insurance please also get that at registration time.

you all know the link

http://www.nsmba.bc.ca

Have fun all!

What's the rider cap? How many 4-person teams vs. 2-person teams are you allowing?

-m

Silk

120 rider limit

so 60 teams of 2 or 30 teams of 4

when we hit 120 riders we stop online registration

For for a 2 person team, each member has to register on their own? I just registered for myself and I assume my partner has to register as well?

Ill explain.

It costs $15 per person to register for a 2 man team!

It costs $25 per person to register for a 4 man team!

Why is this so?

We are creating a 4 man team. I just registered and payed $25. As will the other 3 riders? Or just one of us has to pay $25?

LeeLau
05-03-2006, 10:38 PM
OK - that doesn't make sense. It should be just $ 15 per person. I'll let Silk field that one.

I TOLD YOU SO KEN :P

everyone has to register and pay.. the reason for putting the team captain for each is so we know who is on which team.

the teams of 4 pay a higher race fee of $25 each since the winning 4 member team gets to pick which charity the proceeds will go to. :)

People can register for their team mates IF they know all the information required for registration - address, postal code, birth day, email, emergency contact info etc. They will have to go through the process for each person.

Questions about the Corporate Challenge can be directed to James at Dizzy.

Ok all... to answer some questions again...

the 4 person team is more because some of that will go to a charity of choice to the winners of the 4 person team. So you pay more for a good reason and a good cause.

Everyone in your team MUST REGISTER we need all your info

This blurb will be going out in the newsletter:

The RIPPER SERIES is on yet again for 2006!!! Check out http://www.nsmba.bc.ca/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=15&Itemid=28 for more details. This series is brought to you by Dizzy Cycles, NSMB.com and the NSMBA and sanctioned by Cycling BC.

The first Ripper on April 29th was a roaring success and SOLD OUT! Don't get shut out for the SuperD and register early. The Seymour Super – D will give the rider bragging rights for even daring to compete! Held on Seymour, the course will be announced shortly - expect the unexpected. A team event (read the description), it will require a bit more then just jet-fuel, skill and/or lungs to complete or do well.

Registration for the Seymour Super –D is now live be on the NSMBA website at http://www.nsmba.bc.ca/index.php. Teams of 2 pay $ 15 per person. Corporate groups of groups of friends can sign up as teams of 4 and have to pay $ 25 per person to enter.

The 4 person challenge is more per person because the emphasis on it is as a corporate challenge. If you win the net proceeds of all registration for the 4 person teams will be donated to the charity of your choice. You can pick the NSMBA as one of the recipients but you are not obliged to do so

You will need to purchase Cycling BC insurance in the amount of $ 27/- per person for this event. People already insured through CyclingBC either through their race license or other Cycling BC Insured club will not have to pay this amount since they are already insured. You must show proof of insurance by showing us your card. This insurance is also valid for the NS Ripper, SORCA and WORCA Toonie Races.

For volunteer opportunities with the NORTH SHORE RIPPER email volunteer@nsmba.bc.ca

The organizers of Specialized North Shore Ripper : NSMBA , NSMB.com and Dizzy Cycles challenge you, the riders of the Maxxis Super D May 13th to a Corporate Event.
All 4 person teams will be entered in the Maxxis Super D Corporate Challenge. The Challenge proceeds will be given to the charity of the winners
choice. The cost per individual is $25.00/ $100 for the team ( to make it worthy of charity ). Our goal is to raise $1000.00 .

You should have received this email after registration:

The Maxxis Super D on Mt. Seymour ( Shore Style ) May 13th,2006

The NSMBA, NSMB.com, and Dizzy Cycles wish to thank you for registering for the second Specialized North Shore Ripper of the 2006 season .The net proceeds of this event go to the NSMBA trail crews. Thanks to these crews !

This event will have your 2 or 4 person team ride together from near the top of Mt. Seymour to the bottom via single track trails. The event reflects the nature of a group ride by insisting that you finish within 15 seconds of your partner. This means that by finishing with your partner you will be riding within your teams speed and support each other throughout the descent. Should anything go wrong with your bike or you , you will have a buddy to help you out!

The on site number pick up will take place at parking lot P1 - above CBC on The Mt Seymour Ski Hill Road . Please park in this lot or in another of the parking lots higher up the Ski Hill Road.
DO NOT PARK AT THE DEEP COVE LOOKOUT.

On Saturday May 13th number pick up will open at 7:30am and close at 9:00am.
Two person teams will begin the ride at 9:00am. Four person teams will follow.
We will have one minute separations between two person teams. Two minute separations between four person teams.
The course is : Down CBC, TNT, Cabin trail to Upper Dales. You will ride down upper Dales to the pull out onto the Mushroom trail. Your team will climb the Mushroom trail to Incline , cross Incline and descend down Lower Corkscrew. You will come out onto Incline , descend to the Powerlines and head down hill (east)to the trail entrance of Pingu. You and your partner(s) will turn right and go to the entrance of Team Pangor and descend this trail to the Bridle path . The finish will be to the right on Bridle Path.
(insert map)
Riding Protocol : This is not a race, this is a riding event . If your team is caught by another team please yield the course to the pursuing team . This team now has a minute on you and should be allowed to continue . Pass where safe and please be considerate of the other riders. “ On your right” or “ On your left “ are the accepted phrases to ask for a pass.

We will not provide results at the event. Continue to enjoy your day of riding , we will see you at the Hurricane Grill on Marine dr. in North Vancouver for results and loot. Doors open at 11:00am results will be announced at 7:00 pm and Loot will follow.

What's the bigger risk stuff? I can see the jumps might be an issue since you could jump onto another racer but the skinnies are OK, at worst you can fall off but you would be hard pressed to land on someone. I say just block off the jumps but leave the skinnies open - they won't speed anyone up and if the trail is clearly marked to go around them most will avoid them, just the silly people will hit them (like me)

I signed up for the race and my license last week. I don't have any information about my license however and was wondering what we need to show when we pull up on Saturday morning?

http://www.cycling.bc.ca/index.php?id=29

If you check out that link, there is a section that says:

Please note that your membership may take up to 3-4 weeks to process (longer if your form is incomplete, full payment is not provided, or you ride for a club or team who is not yet affiliated with Cycling BC). Please plan accordingly.

A RUSH licence (within 3 business days) can be processed through the Cycling BC office if required, for an additional $25 fee. Call (604) 737-3034 to arrange.

Email the Cycling BC office if you have questions about your membership.

I didn't pay the additional $25 fee as I did the registration through the nsmba.ca page.

So what's the deal? Are people who signed up for their license within the past few weeks SOL?

http://www.cycling.bc.ca/index.php?id=29

Are people who signed up for their license within the past few weeks SOL?

yeah your SOL and I will take your 27 dollars for beer!

Your all good, if you registered for the race online and paid your fee and cycle bc membership fee "27.00" online also then we have this info and race day we will give you a nice new yellow card showing you have insurance for the rest of the year.

that's only IF you paid the $27 to nsmba!

it sounds like you applied for a UCI license and if you don't have proof of payment you will need to pay us $27 for the associate club insurance (either on nsmba's website or by cash/cheque at race day) which will be refunded to you through cycling bc once they process your UCI payment.

I did race registration and license through the nsmba page. When I didn't get a license number I did some digging and clicked through to the other page to see if I could contact someone there. That's when I found that info... I'll print out my emails just in case anyways.

So, what's the ratio between 2-person team vs. 4-person team?

Just watch your back andrew. The combined weight of my teams is close to 700 lbs. I wouldnt want to tangle with that, not to mention bikes.

Well, if all 120 spots are full, then there must be someone without a (full) team, so I was wondering how that works out.

Nobody I know is able to do it with me, my last possible partner got a concussion while we were riding yesterday... So, what are my options? Are you serious about the two laps thing....

Super D was good times! The upper trails were sweet. The uphill was a ball-buster but good times all around.

Quote of the day from one of the team members of Shuttlewhore:

I was a little drunk for CBC but by the end my edge wore off.

Duke, next time feel free to park the truck in my car port. You can sleep in the back of the truck that way, even if it rains. ;) Thanks for the late afternoon shuttle!
