The other crashing thread got me thinking, how often do you crash when you are progressing your riding, like: doing new stunts/trying new tricks/trying to go bigger ect.

I havent crashed when trying new things but i am relatively new to the sport (been riding last 2 years but was a mixture of xc and dh but recently my freind got a freeride bike and have been doing bigger things now) but there is this 15 foot jump/gap thing that i want to do which got me thinking about this.

so post up your experiences!

if you think about crashing alot, your more like to actually crash. if the stunt is out of your ability, dont do it, period. if you believe your skill level as a rider can handle it, then go for it. everyone crashes, and hurts themselves eventually. it goes with the sport.

I'm a pussy so I usually don't try bigger stuff until I'm sure I can land it. Gone are the days of hucking and hoping. So maybe 1 outta 4 attempts goes awry

I have crashed once hard on a jump I hadn't tried before. If you really think about the stunt and figure out all the ways you could bail, and try to think how you can not do that, then you should be fine. The stuff I bail on is the stuff that I didn't look at it at all. Some of my harder bails however, were on stuff that would be considered fairly large, I would do it a few times (3-6 times over several days), and then something would go wrong I would eat it. :hurt:
