:canada: While did not move nearly as far as you two... I left home and moved here only to be close to the dirt of Whistler Mountain. I spent every weekend at the park and once the thing opens I plan to do it again. Best thing I ever did!
See you around the park sometime!

Gonna be mental out there!
seen the pick of that gap! That is some serious crazy stuff!!!
Not sure what type of riding I'm goona fall into, by the sounds of it I'm only going to be extreme xc Canada style...
never done anything close to 40 foot gaps or anything!
If people are about n wanna meet up then I'm up for it...
Going to be wanting to watch the crazy loons doing thier stuff!

Hey Guys...
Just had to break up the UK love-in. Sorry!
And I like the term "crazy loons". Is that normal over there?

When I saw that pick was the best term I could think of without swearing!
Been looking at as much Canada related riding stuff as possible and all I can say is #"*%?!
Gotta step up my riding standards big time!

I was talking about the 45 foot gap in Canada that was posted on this thread, looked like quite a tight landing on wooden ramp...
But Wys, your one looks sweet also!
So any recomendations for a bike to use out there?
I could get me hands on my mates Kona Stinky (02 model) still got original forks which need upgrading but rest of the bikes pretty ok, been in his shed past year...
would it manage to handle Canada ok?
I'm either thinking of buying over there or taking a bike with me...
only advantage I can think of in buying a bike in the uk is that I'll get used to riding it more as I'm only on hardtail at the mo...

Hey Ben... you an experineced Whistler visiter? whats your plan of action been?
How easy it going to be for me to find the right places to ride if I'm going solo?
finding some sweet pics on here, there is soime truely amazing stuff going on out there guys!
I tip my cap to you!
dubrider_mart
05-12-2006, 03:23 AM
dude you'll have no worries finding places to ride.. there will be people on bikes everywhere, just stop themm and ask. i know if you did that in this country your would get the finger, but in canada people actually have manners and are well friendly. either that or go into the nearest bike shop to where you're staying and ask them.

Hi Rusty,
When you will be in Whistler to ride?
I'm from France and I will be in Whistler in August (16 august to sept 4).
Don't worry, it's not a problem to ride in solo in Whistler. There are plenty of riders all the time and you can find difficulties for you. All the gaps are not like in videos ;)

Im getting there pretty much as you leave hpman!
My journey starts begining of Sep, its the only way I could get the time of work
I'm soo looking forward to this, its going to be amazing!
Hopefully buyiing my flight ticket this week, just got to decide whether to fly in and out of Vancouver of leave from somewhere else...

Hi,
Im also from the uk and heading to Whistler for the bike season. I get there may 22nd and am there until 8th september. Got my flights booked an apartment waiting, see you all there next week! Only bad news is i am still healing after breaking my collarbone in new zealand, but should be able to ride within a week of being in canada.
If anyone wants to hook up for a beer or riding in whistler let me know. This season is going to be sick.

Christ! Brits on tour!!
B.C is one of the best places i have ever been to, you're going to have a ball WYSIWYG, who knows, may even bump into you around the village?!?
I'm due to arrive in Whistler on the 2nd September. Will be my 3rd year. Have 3 weeks riding the park, then off to Vancouver for a couple of weeks to have a look at some places to live for when my residency comes through! *fingers crossed*
I'll guarantee you, once home you'll be saving to come straight back - probably for good!! :)
