Currently running a michelin comp 16 that was great for traction in the wet, my only complaint being all the side knobs that got ripped off. I run a michi 2.8 comp 32 up front.

I'm considering buying another comp 16 because of the great traction but was wondering how the kenda nevegal and maxxis minion compared in traction? My biggest requirement is traction because when it gets dry I change over the rear tire to a comp 24.

I use a minon on the back of my bike. It holds up well. But I think you would have better wet weather traction with the tires you have. The Minons rip for hard pack and top speed runs down Rossland.

I have nevegals right now. Love em. but havent had them long enough to know about their wear rates.

Had minions (rear on rear) and after about 8 rides, the tires looks like its been through 2 years. Grip is unparrallel though.

Never owned a michi.

i like the michelins for their good wet shore conditions performance. i have the tubeless so i run 'em lower pressure too when the riding is greasy.

I've had my rear Nevagal for over 2 years. It's still hardly worn.

If you ride aggresively a Comp16 on the rear won't last long. I learnt that the hard way. Beat rear tires for wet weather are the Michelin Comp24, actually pretty good on the wet, and the Nevegal. I personally prefer the Comp24, but it is a more expensive tire.

I second the Michi Comp 24 for front and rear! Great traction on slick wood, although they tend to fill up with mud and get smooth.

The 16 is too soft for me.

You must have had a softer compound then, my Minions lasted two years, and no noticeably wear. But then, I was very careful to ride them on concrete as little as possible.

I would definitely go for Minions. I have Nevegals for my new bike, but as it isn't finished, I haven't ridden them yet, but that also sounds like a good way to go. Either way, I'm sure you can't go wrong.

I have the minion DH R's. I like them alot. Pretty fast rolling, and grip really well in semi-hard pack (if that even makes sense) and it holds it own in the loose stuff. Pretty well rounded tire so far. Havent really taken the tire through its paces yet though. Im confident it will be great.

uhh, DHR's???

You sure, cus they arent fast rolling. More like pulling a truck. They are the reason Ive been syncrowned.

DH F's are killer fast.

My wet weather setup last year was Comp32 2.8" up front and Comp24 2.5" rear. Dry setup was Minion DHR ST 2.5" up front and a Comp24 2.2" rear. Both setups worked awesome.

I've been running the Big Earl Tire on the rear for the last while. It's been great through the wet season, sticks well to rocks and wood and doesn't seem to get too clogged up with mud. It's not too expensive either.

I had a michelin, and the knobs on the side didn't have that much damage. Maybe look at the Hutchison's?

run a front minion slow reezay on the rear of my dh bike... after a week or so of riding (national round we had 4 days shuttles in a row..) it was all stuffed... deffinatly not cometitive... put a new one on...

grip is amazing though... might try to run a blingbling on the rear next time... faster and still beefy corner knobs... wear will be worse though...

maxxis tyres dont last long.. supurb grip untill they wear down though...

i havent really tried anything else... so i dont know... wasnt impressed with the kendas i tried though i loved the intense tyres in tacky dry grippy conditions... they lasted forever... like been on and off a few bikes... that was meant to be a FRO tyre as well...my local shop dosent stock them thoigh so havent had them since...

the intense tyres i ran with 15psi in them on the rear... super stiff sidewall, hard to get on the rim also last for ages with amazing grip... and weigh about as much as the average housebrick...

would recomend maxxis minion front... for the front and rear... expect fast wear rates though
