Hey - just wondering if any of you know any nicknames for chalets that are rented out and filled with people working up there. I remember The Liftie Palace back in my day, but I'm writing a story and could use some names.

Appreciate any help.

well , there was the ghetto , which was the dorm type temporary accommodations by the volly cabin ( near the B/A , gulf , petrocan station ) . with harry mckeever cashing paychecks over at the l'apres , a whole lotta money changed hands in underground illicit trade there .

down cheakamus way , there was packer paradise , which was a neighborhood of squats and old buses and vans not far from the ( second ) dump .

and there was the brio house , that curts' mom ( rest her soul ) used to rent out and put up and feed skids in a variety of non-conforming rooms . one spring , curt and i discovered the belongings of some transient who had been sleeping in an unused utility shed . the guy had managed to camp out there for few months without anyone even knowing he was there .

and of course , the trap , as in firetrap and rattrap , which was the last standing building on the jordan lodge site at the south end of nita lake . john taylor ( rest his soul ) used to extract money from all sorts of dirt bags for the privelege of staying there , among them the notorious dirty , rotten , stinkin' , fuckin' mike , and my current tenant , matty frantic .

don't forget probably the most infamous dirt bag hotel of all : seppos' , where many a skid first laid out their bedroll upon arriving in whistler , and the scene of probably the most debauched parties whistler has ever seen or heard . a dip in the hot tub downstairs pretty much guaranteed a trip to the STD clinic within a couple of weeks . . . ..

Thanks 'skid.

When Curious George and Death Sentence played up there, we stayed at Seppo's. You certainly didn't need a microscope to see the critters living in the linens there. I slept in my sleeping bag in the van.
