Some of you may remember my wife buying me a new frame for my birthday. Well around our house, one good turn deserves another. Here's her birthday present. It's got a great spec, X.9 shifter/derailleur, Syncros rims and hubs, Hayes 9 brakes. Weighs in at an even 36 lbs. The Fox DHX Air should shed another pound or so when it gets here.

Dave - what size is that? My GF has a size small Six, and it weighs 43lbs. She likes the bike, but it's a tank.

It's a small. You must have the 05. The 06's are much lighter.

It's actually an '04. I'll have to let her know about the weight savings.

How wide are the tires? 2.5s?

Yup the 04/05's were heavy but bulletproof. The 06 is lighter, more all-mountain. They dropped the 150 rear hub, went to a lighter fork, and lighter frame. It's not as rugged as the earlier frames, but good for it's intended purpose.

The tires that come on it are 2.35, the tires in the pic are 2.5

A lighter bike really isn't too much of an issue when you're talking about a 115lb. girl. :D

Why the Norco over the Heckler? Just curious.

Why the Norco over the Heckler? Just curious.

The Heckler is a few years old, it's time for something new. The geometry feels much better and it pedals just as well. She had a demo bike for a weekend and felt more comfortable and rode some things she would previously never even try before. She found it just felt better, can't argue with that.

I'm a big Norco fan, I think the value you get for the price can't be beat.

I would never have thought about it until I saw it on your bike. It was a bit uncomfortable at first, but after I stole this out of your backyard it became alot better.

You guys are pretty slick ;)

Funny how in the past a 36lbs bike would have never been considered 'light'.

By the way, that Norco Six One is a sweet ride. Can't wait to hear a bit of a review.
