Just got myself a stumpjumper xc bike and was wondering what tires you guys are using(it came with adrenaline not to sure about these just yet)....i know lots about my fav freeride tires but nothing about the xc's....mainly gonna be riding long epic single track (nothing to crazy---have the demo 9 for that---lol) with a bit of road to get to our trails....any advice would be great!!!:agree:

On my Green Machine I run 2.35 Syncros FLT3. They are awesome tires. Excellent rolling ability, great hook up on the dirt. Now I know that my bike has only been used for DJ's at the momment, but when I raise the saddle and ride some XC they are great.

When I had a XC hardtail I was using IRC Mythos XC 2.10" kevlar bead tires...
nice and light, good grip, there's a front and a rear-specific model.

At my LBS, all the guys are XC freaks (it is texas after all) and everybody is raving about the Maxxis CrossMarks. THey are supposedly the "holy grail" of XC tires. I have yet to try them, but they certainly do look like a good tread.

I will be running a Kenda Nevegal 2.1 folding bead in the front and a Maxxis Larson 2.0 in the rear.
For Racing I will run my the Larson 2.0 up front and a Maxxis High Roller semi slick for the rear.

When I get my new bike I will tell you how they work.

When I raced I had little Michelins that rolled faster than I could pedal....Drifted in corners too...super fun. the ones with the / \ / \ / \ / \ / \ / pattern down the middle...

Bontranger Jones on the front, Kenda Kinetics on the rear of the XC rig.
I'd reccomend check the reviews on mtbreview.com under tires, mostly XC tire reviews and a very good resource.

These are good tires - they are on my wide's hardtail.
I'm trying some Schwalbe's on my HT - they are also light and very grippy

XC Bike: Dry: IRC Mythos 2.1
XC Bike: Not Dry: Kenda Nevegals 2.1
Its only been two weeks but I am fully converted to the Kenda Nevegals for any type of riding where grip is my number one goal. For dry/hardpack I've always found that that IRC Mythos as deceptive bite for a tire that rolls as fast as it does.

Lots of different types and they're all getting better.
Blue Groove (f) / Nevegal (r) 2.1" are my faves from last year. I've got a set of Maxxis CrossMarks coming so I'll be able to see how they fare too.
Have tried a couple sets of Hutchinsons and wasn't super impressed. Great for rolling fast but I don't think they ever settled into their element out here (and they wore down REALLY quickly). These are the only xc tires I've used in recent years that have given me multiple pinch flat problems.
And if cash is an issue, there's always the stuff that's available at MEC. Panaracer Fire XCs are decent, well-wearing tires... Not the best, not the worst.

Have been a huge fan of Continental Explorer Pros for several years. Super light, excellent in a wide range of conditions and good longevity. I have used them tubeless and regular. The one down side is they are a bit pricey. When I am feeling poor I go to the IRC Mythos. Cheap, cheap and excellent grip but wear quickly. Again I have used these as tubeless and regular.

Oh ya, I have used both in 2.1 only......I am not a huge fan of 1.9 except for racing and 2.3's rub the chain stays in muddy conditions on my superlight.

the new bike io just got has maxxis rancheros on it... previous to that i usually use larsons...
rancheros are real fast but i think i might put some slightly bigger tyre on the front...
larsons will still be my next tyre becasue of there cheap price and they workl so well in the gravel and dirt of the tracks around ehre
