I have my big bike for downhill and bike parks, but really want a second bike for light XC and neighborhood cruising. I've seen a couple Rocky Mountain Flow FS for sale for about $1000, anyone familiar with them? Would it be a good choice for a light duty bike? Any other suggestions for a nice all purpose bike in the $1k range?

Get a hardtail

I have my Cove Foreplay all built up and have put away the big bike. I find its a blast riding Fromme/Seymour/Cypress with a hardtail. It makes all the trails seem new and fresh.

I haven't been riding them long enough for them to get stale yet :P

But I know what you mean, I rode a hardtail Kona all last year and it was great, I sold it to help fund the FS build. I suppose I could get another Kona, but I'd like to try something new & different.
