i wanna sell my 2004 norco six its too heavy and ive ridden maybe 4 times. Maybe not for most but i want a mid 30 pound trail bike that i can do some XC more so.

preffered specs
pike
air shock of some sort
5 inches from and back
light

Ideas:
Sc Blur 4x
06 cove hooker (looks like it doesnt exist)
Specialized s-works enduro or frame build up
norco 4x

Anyone have any ideas...
Lemme know if you want a pretty much brand new 2004 six size small with the only mod being an e13 chain guide and gaurd up front.

They new Mountain Cycle Battery slopestyle bike would fit what you are looking for pretty well.

Heres a picture of the one my friend rides

Go for the Enduro! Beautiful bikes.

Check this one out too if you've got too much money (since you're asking for S-works). Dizzy's in NV has one right now - $9700. But it's more of an XC rig.

They are doing the first run now, but they are all sold. I've heard there should be more available around easter.

Your best bet if you want one is to contact Mountain Cycle directly. I'm not sure if there are any dealers around here, but when I worked there we sent quite a few frames directly to people in vancouver and whistler

Mdub! If you're looking for the best price, I'd say go for Santacruz, their prices lowerd for frames this year so stuff is pretty cheap, and might even lower for next year. If not Check out an enduro I like they're feel, super light and perfect height, deffinately a bike you're going to go fast on.

Also check out Sinisters upcoming bikes, they have some super tough/light/durable air shock frames coming out pretty quick, and should match up to a lot of those other frames

The Giant Reign is a nice all mountain-trail bike, 5x5" travel. The Reign 1 comes with fox 36.

I say go for a Blur 4x too...

If you have the $$$ consider a Sinister Splinter ER. They are pretty damn amazing. Frank the Welder really knows his stuff. 4"-5" of rear travel (5"-6" with a shock swap). Plus you can build one up under 30lbs. Perfectly matched with a Pike.

SX-Trail or Nomad if you are willing to go to mid 30s (as indicated). You'l l have a ride that is more versitile than an Enduro. If you want a low 30s bike then the Enduro ('cept you can't lower the seat much on them).

Sell your old Six and buy a 2006 one. Great price point and comes in around 34 lbs. I'll weigh my wife's tonight for an exact weight. I do know it's noticeably lighter than her Heckler.

I'd say:

Blur LT, Nomad, 2006 Norco Six 1, SX Trail or Brodie Nemesis. Your best value for money are the Norco and the Brodie. But if you're not wanting 4 bar and willing to shell out of the money then Nomad or Blut LT. They're all sick bikes, just personal preference and amount of coin you want to spend.

I wouldn't buy something from mountain cycle in its first production run.

Why not? They are made by the same people in the same shop that makes many high end bikes like santa cruz, iron horse, brooklyn machine works, etc. With all their frame building experience I'd definately trust them to get a design right the first time compared to some of the other companies suggested here.

Yeah - 4 bar was designed for terrible pedalling. Single pivot was designed to reduce bob.

pike
air shock of some sort
5 inches from and back
light

Ideas:
Specialized s-works enduro or frame build up

If you're considering the Specialized SX, also take a look at the Giant Reign 2 - 32.5 pounds for the 18" frame, Nixon 145mm with 20mm axle, HFX-9 carbon lever brakes, X7/X9 drivetrain stuff, etc. Sells for about $1900 US. If you want to build one up yourself you could buy a whole Reign 3 (the low-end model), sell the parts you don't want, and end up with a nice trailbike frame for a lot less than the cost of a s-works enduro frame.

edit: somebody above already mentioned the nomad... sweet bike, big money ($3000). If you can afford a Nomad, and are considering one, also take a look at the Scott Ransom. It's in the same price category.

the new rocky slayer is amazing, a little longer that 5 inches, i think it's 6 but it's just a crazy bike, you have to ride it to understand

ya...these bikes are nice
but the blur 4x just seems like a simple design i dont have to worry about and it would be a light freeride no hucks...and whistler boneyard and a-line bike and all mountain and xc when i do it

weird build of a preston - if set up for 5" travel I think a preston needs a 42 or 44 ring... here's some prestons built up by Transition's UK importer:
