View Full Version : Ebay for bikes? (continued theme)
What do you guys think about guying bikes and parts from ebay? I have a couple of buds who do it all the time and get great deals. There is just something about it that just wierds me out a little bit. Anybody have any opinions regarding ebay and the local bike industry? Yes this is continued from NSTP's thread, just got my mind working.

Not everything is a deal on Ebay. There are some bargains. You can usually make out well if you're patient and know how to use the system. I see lots of parts selling for more than they're worth, such as used parts selling for more than they can be bought new elsewhere.
As they say, there's a sucker born every minute...
haha beeg, ebay is dope. that goes without saying tho
"support your local bike shops!!" but there are killer deals on ebay and i think through the experiences taken place that you agree.

There are a couple of sellers based in Hong Kong and Singapore who sell the higher-end Shimano stuff for amazing prices...
I got a very nice Fetish road bike frame on ebay for $121 with shipping. Just be cautious, check feedback, and pay with a protected method like a credit card through paypal for fraud protection.
here are some of my favourite ebay stores. I only pay attention to "buy it now" stuff, and treat ebay like a fixed price store. I don't get into bidding wars on stuff.

this guy has saint cranksets for $183-$220 US, plus $22 shipping... that's hard to beat. or an ultegra 6600 crankset and BB for $164.

I bought a complete pair of juicy 5 brakes front and rear with 203mm rotors for 200 USD. I had bought a juicy 7 front brake used for 80 bux awhile ago. You just have to look around and sometimes you will find an amazing deal. I bought atomic sl9 skis with bindings brand new for 300, expensive skis that are over 600 in shops. I rarely buy used parts on ebay you don't always know what you're getting so be careful with buying expensive used parts such as complete bikes, forks, etc.

I got a pair of 04' Shivers back in 2004 for 700$$us. They were brand new and arrived to my door in perfect condition. The only thing is you never know if the part your getting is from a hot parted out bike.

^ nope my saint cranks are 175mm and they feel great, you can really torque on them. I have never had a problem with them hitting rocks, but my bottom bracket is on the high side so keep that in mind..

I've never used anything shorter than 175.
