I thought it looked good with the orange still there. it gave the bike a little bit of colour to make it stand out just a little. I don't really like it as much all black like that. Just my opinion.

03-05-2006, 06:44 PM
That'll look great when the marker starts wearing off after you ride it. Assuming you'll ride it of course....

Michelins are black. Should've done it right.

PS Much better without the orange! Nice ride! Now go get it dirty!

Nice marker work, but being a solvent pen, it's probably not very good for rubber... Who knows though, if you get a giant tear, that might be a give away sooner or later...

Anyhow, I liked the rollers more when they were orange, looked cute.

basically a perfect bike. the only thing I would do is have the rollers painted rather than just dipped in computer ink and also I'd get some all black tires. this way nothing would ever rub off. but other than that it's absolutely beautiful. and the manitou definitely beats the avy in this case cuz it matches the fork. nice job for sure.

that's sick! mini avy and all!

Ross, 40lbs! with all that money you gotta get that thing on a diet, you'll dig it even more about 4-5lbs lighter. it will be much less piggish and more flickable..

Mine is 36lbs and I didn't even try that hard to make it light. You aren't using thick ass dh tubes are ya?

Rosscofat
03-07-2006, 01:09 PM
im using pinch resistant tubes... the tires are pretttyy heavy and the fork is atleast 6.5lbs pedals are heavy too that is a prob but im used to heavy bikes. and i still have to change seatpost to masterpeice.

Remeber I didnt spend that much money. under 3G pedals are .86lbs a Peice!! seatpost is .60lbs

fork = 6.62lbs.. all that adds.. but I love the way it feels so I wont be making it much lighter.

feels good.

having a comfy seat is good when riding up a hill, because.....you are sitting on the seat. its less important in full on DH bikes, but on bikes, like an sx, which can be easily taken uphill, a comfy seat is a nice thing to have.

I like the look a lot better now. The only thing I never liked about the MRP guide was those orange rollers, but you seem to have taken care of that. Get all black tires when those are close to being dead. It's funny the things people will do for aesthetics, but I'm the same way, I'll obcess about it untill it's right. We spens enough money on our custom bikes so they should be just how we like them. Enjoy!

It's so true.

I have to have wheels and tires that match. With wheels, they must come from the same company, and be the same model. With tires, they must come from the same company. I also like to have a cockpit that is all from one company too. Same goes with the drivetrain... I have I achieved this level of sicknesss? Not quite yet, but I'm getting there slowly.:D

just to re-state what cuprinol said, its is lighter than regular housing, it actualy scratches LESS easily (regular housing is more abrasive than the smooth aluminum "beads" on the nokon housing) , and it makes your shifting absolutely solid. Sucks to set up initialy, but tafter that, its perfection.

oh snap, i just got my job back at my LBS. Watch out ross, in the coming months i will be attempting to surpass your SX ;)

Ok, thats really realistic cuz my frame is 4 years old with 6 months of riding on it, but still, my parts group shall rise in value very soon *insert evil laugh* then *sigh* at the realization that the level of greatness achieved through the SX cannot be achieved with my 2-step :(

in the mid ninety's, some forward thinking individuals put long travel forks on hardtails deep in the woods of vancouver.
midway through the oughts, a similar group of forward thinking individuals mounted coil shocks and stout forks on mid-travel "trail bike" frames.

no you can't stop the children of the revolution ohh ohhh...

all your threads turn into one (small) E-penis extention...

if you look at the weld on the second one from the left, the top part that would go on the bb, it looks like 1/3 of the weld was bad. it almost looks like they didn't have enough heat on the weld and there was no penetration into the spline part

03-13-2006, 01:01 AM
yeah... I dunno.. i would think most ppl inspect the product before they ride.. very weird.. mayb a bad run.. sorta weird but that not much of a downer..

ive seen that with profiles few times.. and I think even Kona Bulge also haha

i would think most ppl inspect the product before they ride
once a product is powder coated, it would be tuff, if not impossible to detect imperfections in a small weld.

i've heard that white weakens a product by 20-30%

REALLY? lol mayb thats why syncros rims suck? hhahah
