I have plans to race the '06 season (BCCUP-Sport Division) and it's my first time so I'd love some advice and if anyone else is interested in racing I'd love some riding/training company too.
Right now I regularly ride Burnaby Mtn but I also hit the shore on the weekends too. I'd definately be willing to hit the shore more often if I had someone to ride with. Interested?

Feel free to come out with us on Sunday mornings too. Super laid back group, no one is cares how fast or slow you are and it is good for learning new techniques and stuff when you watch 10 other people hit something. Riotgirl shows up (sometimes) and I dont think she feels any pressure either way.

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention that I'm into racing DH although XC is good for training. Here's my email: ryionical_bionical@yahoo.ca Send me an email next time your group heads out for a ride. I'm available to ride weekdays after 4:30 (usually 1 run down Nicoles, including the ride up).

I am also interested in the weekday rides on Nicole's.
I'm definitely a beginner with regards to racing, and I'm also still just recovering from a torn rotator cuff so I've been off my bike since January 2nd.
So I may not be able to keep up a race pace, but if you're up for a regular ride, then let me know.

Sounds great! I ride almost everyday 4-4:30 on Burnaby Mtn so send me an email when you're available. I can possibly ride tomorrow for 4:45 at the pump house on North Road. ryionical_bionical@yahoo.com

Your group website is flippin awesome! I'm trying to set something up here similar to what you have there. Way to go on that. Love to see more networking available for female riders.

ps.Sorry 'bout the snow.

I'm going to be doing a learn to race DH for beginner women in april .... I have to work some details over with cycling bc, but I'll let you all know.

I have my first aid and CMIC accreditation, along with 5 years of racing under my belt, in BC, across Canada and a few out of country ...

I may try racing this year for the first time. I am just so in the dark as to how to get started, where do I find out about races? Where do I register? I just moved here, so I don't know much about how to get involved.

I'm looking forward to a "how to race" for beginners. Great idea!

You can go to this http://www.cycling.bc.ca/index.php?id=5 which will give you the race locations & dates and you will be better off to join a club instead of paying for one day liscences each race, plus you will get to meet a great bunch of people to ride with & learn from.

That's a good idea, thanks! Is anyone involved in a club on the North Shore? Not sure which club would be good to join.

I'm new to the site. Where do the ladies ride? I'd like to get together with some and ride. I'm not hardcore or anything. Though I'd like to be. Does anyone want to ride with me, show me some trails...

If you are in the Fraser Valley contact letsride. She is always looking to expand her list of women riders. She coaches(with Ramirifika sometimes) and loves to jsut get out and ride with other women. Muddbunnies and crew are great too and they are in the Burnaby area.

I have done a few races over the last few seasons - but I still and always will have a lot to learn and always love the fun atmosphere of ladies only camps and clinics - and I am always into travelling down south to ride - so keep me informed

I signed up for my first race, "The Brodie Rat Race" in Gibsons. Are any other women signed up for it in the Greater Vancouver area who wanna get together for training rides?
I'm trying to ride at least 4 times per week if anyone wants to join me.

I'm seriously considering signing up for the Rat Race DH, but having just come back from an injury that kept me off my bike for 3 full months I'm not sure if I'm in the right head space and physical condition for my first ever race to be in just a few weekends.
Maybe I'll feel different after a few training runs. I'm not available this week, but next week looks good for Burnaby Mtn rides in the evenings. I've signed up on the Muddbunnies site, too.
Also, I'm looking to go ride the Sunshine Coast on Saturday, April 29th if you're interested.

Hey Fluid! Yah I remember you on the Muddbunnies site. My girl and I went and checked out the DH course (ride was led by LetsRide) for the Rat Race a couple of weeks ago and it looks good, lots of flow and not too technical at all. I found it easier to ride than Bear Mtn and I've been told that Bear is one of the easier races. So if you're you're going to start racing or start racing again, then I'd recommend this course. I've been told the whole race scene is pretty laid back too. Hope to see you there!
Are you planning on riding Panomama? I'll be signing up for that too.
Can't make the Sunshine Coast ride next week but let me know when you'd like to join us for a ride on Burnaby Mtn. We were up there yesterday and the trails look pretty good, a little wet, but good.
Lets ride soon!

Bear used to be easy, but if you try the jumps its not so easy.... although they are all ride around able..
Sorry about the tease on the learn to race clinic, mtbgal and me are pretty busy, and I am still trying to make it happen!! I'll let you know...
this weekend I coach with endless biking/corridor club and then I have 6 days to dial in my brand new bike (super yay!!) and then my fundraiser and then I fly out the next day to my first race...
SO! I will try and get something organized b4 I go... but if it doesnt work out maybe I'll do something a lil more impromptu...
later skaters!
