really? SWEET. espresso is one of my fav trails and i always thought more building near the end would be good. i can't wait to hit that.

The woodwork looks nice and burly. Someone knows what they're doing.
Yeah, it was a nice surprise the last time I rode espresso.
yea that looks like some good building. anyone know when that was done?

Over the winter at some point. It wasn't there in October 2005, but when I got back on my bike in early 2006 it was...

^^^ no Sean it just rolls back to the ground. But its fun to pump through those if you can carry some speed into them
also, am I the only person that still calls it 'expresso'? It seems the name has morphed into 'espresso', kinda like 'leppard' vs 'leopard'

the end is a roll down/off. That shot is actually looking back up the coaster from the bottom.
i aways assumed it was espresso like the coffee.

that's what the sign says.

Since the sign at the trail head says "Espresso" and not "Expresso", leads me to believe that it is like the caffinated drink! MMMmmm double Espresso!!!

Mad props to Deiter who adopted the trail and has done some amazing stuff to it. He and Katie spent a tonne of time last summer rock armouring the really steep tech drop, reinforcing sketchy ladders, improving drainage, rocking in puddles, etc.
Now that he's got a seriously manly saw, we can look forward to some wild stuff in the future.
He's up there most Sundays slaving away. I've spent a few days as his rock bitch and can vouch for the fact that even when extremely hung over, he's a super nice guy!

dante,
we pounded that out on the espresso trail day last year in about 4hrs. we were lucky to have some great cedar to work with which made the job alot easier.

thanks

cypress, fromme, and seymour are on the shore in north vancouver. that trail is on espresso on mt. fromme.
i'm going to go ride espresso next weekend and check out all the new building.

thanks dante, just one more question though, are all these trails approved by someone, or are these hidden trails that you guys built but are still illegal per say
west van muni doesn't really allow building on cypress, so the trails there are relatively secret. however, the trails on Mt. fromme are sanctioned by the NSMBA and district of north van, and thus, the trails are well marked for the most part (with some exceptions for harder or more exclusive trails). mt. seymour is a similar story to mt. fromme.

Check out www.nsmba.bc.ca
The trails are all volunteer maintained, and we're working with the landowners (District of North Van and Parks) to keep them open.
The more members the NSMBA has, the louder voice we have with the landowners to keep the trails alive!

so in order to help you guys out since im planning a road trip this summer to go ride these trails now, would i be allowed to join nsmba to help save your trails, or would everyone think thats stupid because i live in calgary?
B RAD, if you want to see the extent of our trails, check out http://www.gutsploder.com/ and look at the maps of the respective mountains. you can click on the flags to see photos of stunts or parts of the trail.

ABSOLUTELY JOIN! Tell all your friends to join too!
We're getting set to do the 2006 mailout to members, so get on board soon! Donations go towards nails (about $70 a box), shovels, picks, hammers etc... We have trail days too, so if you feel like putting a part of your soul into the mountains, come on out!

Drop a PM when you're coming out here, and I'll show you the trails. A local guide is the best way to not get lost.

You have no idea of how many trails are out here. Quick answer - riding three times a week, there's enough lines shown on gutsploder.com to not ride the same set of trails twice in 11 weeks.
And that's only the trails that are shown on gutsploder.com
That's assuming you've got the skills to ride all the trails. Some of them are really technical!
yea the trails (and mountains) are of varying degree of difficulty.
