I went there today with a couple of friends. I saw the Trek Session 7 for $1999.99 before tax... It's such a nice bike, but... I need to stay away from it.

westwood caps has a Session 77 for only 500 more. at 2500 it seems like a wicked deal.

They were selling it way below cost.

Nothing there tells you about the mark up. A 'Loss Leader' is a classic retailing technique where you sell an item or items at a loss to raise awareness and bring customers in the door. There are also grey market items that don't come through legitimate channels which can lead to lower pricing - an example would be products purchased from a shop or distributor going out of biz.
It could also be that the space that they take up is worth money, and getting them sold NOW makes more money in the long run.
