I'm definitely a helmet nazi, but its pretty hard to hurt your head in soft sand. Unless, of course your bike lands on top of you - OUCH!

Helmets are less important on MX bikes because your mullet protects your neck.

hahah bump, this made me laugh.

that was a fun day, and no I never ride w/o a helmet, that was just for a laugh, and it worked over a year later.
