Ok, so I have ridden only a few times in the last 2 years, and I really want to get back into it. I was wondering if there was any good riding around Uvic? Perferably Djing, I only have my HT here.

Gordon Head skate park is one place. There are a few jump places but they are most likely too wet to ride.

Gordon Head skate park is pretty close to UVic. Head out McGill Rd, down McKenzie, right on Gordon Head Rd., then ride for a few minutes and take a left on Feltham Rd. Down a ways you'll see a tennis court... its behind the associated rec center. It might take you 5 or 10 minutes easy ride to get there.

UVic itself is a pretty fun place to ride. Lots of benches and stairs and drops everywhere. Theres a wicked set of stairs near the MacLaurin building

It's not a bad place to ride, you just have to stay clear of the campus security:P. Riding during the day in the middle of the week isnt always the best option;).

wow, where's the orchard? I went to Uvic for three years, and never heard of it. I've been graduated for two years though, so maybe that's why? when I was there, we were dealing with Haro woods gettind destroyed. Oh well.

*edit I can see it on the map, but can't place it. what's it near? what street is it on? I don't live there now, I'm just interested.

Orchard is too wet to ride right now, but we're going to be fixing it up sooner or later, once the rain edges off... Anyhow, haro has good area to dig, and there's a few sketchy things in there, if you're gnar-core... And there's just lots of neat little spots around uvic, especially for us bmxers...

You pretty much need to get out of Victoria for good riding...if you're looking for trails that is.

why is this thread under "The Shore", let alone NSMB.com...is there not a SIMBs website...no disrespect, just a queston looking for enlightenment

This forum isnt only for people from Vancouver or the Lower Mainland. "The Shore" is more of a biking related forum than just a North Shore forum. SIMBS also is not as popular as the bigger forums like PB and NSMB. I would much rather ask a question on here than on there.

Becuase some people dislike SIMBs after some of their previous actions, not to mention, I don't really know anyone who frequents the site. Plus, Vancouver island is close enough to Vancouver :P

Vic riders... I stopped by the orchard today to check on the state of the jumps and bumped into the land owner. Apparently he's really concerned about the liability issues of having the jumps on his land and not having control over who rides them. He's also undergoing litigation with one of his other properties... which probably has scared him a bit.

He's planning on removing (i.e. plowing) the jumps from the orchard and seems pretty set on it too. I've only been to the jumps twice, so I don't have as much ownership of them as a lot of you other guys, but it was really disappointing to hear as I had planned on hitting them lots...

This guy is really nice and it seems like he has been really good about having the jumps on his property for the last however many years. If someone out there has talked to him before about the jumps, maybe you could politely try and convince him otherwise... i.e. no punks trashing the place or doing damage to his property...
