View Full Version : Rm7 Question
So I finally got my new bike from Michelin Man on the boards, a 2003 Rocky Mtn Ws simmons edition, and I am super stoked. The only problem is that the shop that we had he checked out at failed to see two cracks where the shock attaches to the front triangle. Shit. So, now, we are gonna try and get crash replacement for it.
My real question is is riding it around a little bit going to be hazardous to my health, or should i just let it sit until i get the crash replacement sorted out. This seems like a stupid question, but I just really want to ride it.

Rocky Warrantied my 2002 RM-7 with a 2004 RMX when it broke in
the exact same place. Talk nice and reasonable to them and they should
certainly do a crash replacement at least.

Common place for those to break. Crash replacement is going to be steep, as they don't have anymore 03 front triangles left. you are going to get a 05 RMX frame. That means you are going to need a new rear wheel and maybe a new bb.
I know this because I paid through the nose for my replacement frame

That's a drag. The same thing happened with my '03 Switch LTD. It sounds like it cracked at the same place. Crash replacement was way too expensive, so I gave up on Rockies and bought a Bullit.
Good luck. Hopefully, your experience is better.

Hey the exactly same thing happened to me.
I noticed the cracks on both sides of the bolt the day b4 opening day on mt washington last summer so I rode it anyways. It was fine. No Heeeuge drops though.
Had to pay for crash replacemnt, got a 2005 RMX r1 with dhx4.0 so iwas happy.
THen i foudn out a needed a new BB, and rear hub/wheel.

1400 dollars is still a pretty sick deal for the spec of the bike.

It does.
It's probably an option or something in your CP.

Go to User CP, Options (in the menu on the left) and then you can activate that a pop up appears when you get a new private message. Make sure though that your pop up blocker doesn´t block them for this site.
just to clear this up, michy man, being the high integrity person he is, has offered to buy the bike back from me. so, anybody who thought that he was trying to shaft me, f*ck off.

It seems to me that people have varying degrees of success when dealing with Rocky.

Maybe it is not Rocky that is hit or miss but the people on the other
side of the transaction. After all if 50 people have interactions with
a company and there are varying reports of satisfaction then the company
is the reasonably consistent part of that equation.

you should buy a dualie frame and put your parts on it...you would have a nice rig.
