My M120 shoes developed a huge crack across the width of the sole behind the cleat slots... They're only about 8 months old, within the 1 year period, so I'm shipping them away for warranty (after getting approval on the phone with some guy at Shimano in California). Anyone done this before? How fast is Shimano on warranty issues?

From what I've heard Shimano is known to be really stingy when it comes to warranty. Hopefully you'll have better luck. Perhaps your vendor will cover you.

They have a booth at the outdoor show. Head down there with your shoes and make a scene. :D

My wife did. She had some Shimano SPD shoes that blew out pre-maturely, and they were great about it. She got brand new shoes out of it. If you are stuck, I'll get the details for ya. Let me know.

Shimano for me were rubbish my dx basically produced ripples everywhere im presuming from the upper material coming away from the lower material. The shop decided that they needed to go to the distributor who said there was nothing wrong with them pathetic and the second pair i got did the exact same thing.

I warantied a pair a bit ago, and they gave me the next model up as a replacement. Wasn't a hassle at all. Should be that your LBS/vendor gives you the new pair, and they deal with the warranty.

i know useless company we had to explain the rules of the company deals with the dispute with the distributor not the individual.

I'm doing it myself because the shop I bought them from no longer carries Shimano shoes, they seemed slightly more than reluctant to do the warranty return for me.

update: Shimano rocks! It took 3 weeks but they replaced my M120 shoes with the 2006 model M181, it's the next step up in the product line. I'm pleased with the ratcheting buckle, it's a lot better than velcro for the largest strap.
