View Full Version : Who makes the white stuff?

So a new bike is on the way...it comes with the white Boxxer Team.
Before the bike is taken out the door is the best time to swap stuff around for minimal expense.
I'll entertain the idea of white rims and/or white spokes :)
Who makes the white stuff? ...the rims need to be a decent weight tho, NOT heavy. (ex: a DoubleTrack is waaay too heavy)

Syncros rims.
Also think silver...polished silver. Bright as white and looks even pimper.
As many have said for '06...white is the new black
I'm sorry, IMO, white rims just don't go along with the white forks.

If I do this...it'll change your mind. Trust me :D (There would be a few other tweaks that'll make the bike as a whole look stellar, not simply a rim swap)
Thx for the Syncros (http://www.syncros.com/rims.htm) tip....and only 14gr heavier than the EX325's that are coming on the bike. (for the DPS rim)
Just giving you an idea what it might look like. This guys has a white 66 with a white Syncros.

^ white v-10 with the white boxxer is such a funny looking setup, the frame looks so much bigger than the fork.

Give me a little credit  ...I wouldn't do this with a white frame, that would be too much for sure.

I'm personally going for some Syncros DPS32's myself, awesome rims. Do not make ur bike look like that Kona posted up above....Make sure you get like a white seat and seatpost or something too....bashring?

That Kona up there is in my opinion quite potentially one of the ugliest bikes I´ve ever seen.
Sure, white is the new black, but I think that white forks and rims look more like playmobil than bike-parts. Black rims, fine... yellow rims, nice, but I think many people only like those rims because all the pros have them. Apart from those two colours, there are only the camo singletracks I like. All the rest looks just ugly, especially those white rims and the red dt swiss. ugly as hell!
I personally like the look of white parts, but though I´m very left-winged, I am conservative about rims... no colours, please.
@ Loopie: I don´t think you can get white spokes, haven´t seen any whites so far. I know that one company makes really nice ano red spokes which come with red hubs. That actually looks sweet. It is something different but not a huge eye-catcher.
However... a green jackal-frame or blue sinister dna with the white deity-parts is propably my dream street bike.

I wanted the white e13 bash guard but they dont make it I thought that would be all I needed with a white fork. maybe some white electrical tape will have to do.

Are you sure e.13 won´t come out with the coloured bash guards? I´m 99% sure that the decline mag wrote in their interbike report that e.13 will release their bashguards in 10 different colours, including white.

Imo, ugliest rim ever. Have you seen Chase´s bike in NWD6? The white Cannondale with that rims... Ugly as hell, in my opinion. I love the red hubs + spokes but rims, naaaah. Oh, and I think the DT.swiss parts are quite expensive...

Ed pointed me in the direction of pricepoint (http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/14248-260_SYND35-3-Parts-66-Rims/Syncros-DPS-32-Rim-32-Hole-offerIN050BB1.htm) for current stock.

I'll check into the Halo. If memory serves tho...they are overseas???
But ya, I'm not going to spend a huge amount just to have white rims. Even if I could get the syncros into the shop, it was gonna cost me $210 for the swap. (built)

I ride the Halos. They are strong, cheap, and heavy. Not as bad as a Doublewide, though. Come in 32, 36, and 48 drillings.
If you go for those, make sure you get the Combat SAS, as opposed to the regular Combat. They're the same rim profile but the SAS has double eyelets, and is pinned and welded, as opposed to the Combat being just pinned.
Overall, it is a burly rim, made of a soft-ish alloy. You want to keep your pressure up, or it will ding easy. I raced DH all last season on mine, and they are still going strong. Will switch it up for racing this season, but only to get something lighter.

white rims are nice and all but now that i'm getting rid of my black (breakout) fork and getting the WC i'm a little concern how my bike would look. white rims and pearl white lowers... hope it doesn't look as bad as i think. i may just have to paint one. :D
plus if u ever destroy one of the rims u will have to find another one that's white. not much choices out there as u know. so you're almost stuck w/ the syncros if u want 2 white rims. a pain.

I have the Truvative White bash. Its super pimp but gets pretty dirty easy. Look into the Black Syncros DPS 36. They have white lettering and the black isnt as glossy as it is flatter. They looks killer sharp.
I have a powder coated rim, dont do it. Its a rhyno and the paint is coming off like crazy. It was just a cheap fix to keep me on whites front and rear as i busted my rear syncros.

ok...I think I've figured a way to tie in the white fork so the complete bike will look decent as a whole pkg, while leaving the wheels 100% black (hubs, spokes and rims...decals removed)
My frame is coming in a bright color, so the white works as an "accent" btw:cool:

You gotta be responsible with white.. too much and the bike will look silly or even downright ugly. I think if you use a lot of white then appropriate decals are that much more important... and if you choose a fork white white lowers, at least paint the crowns to match...
