I need a new DH bike. I know what I want...the budget says it'll take me 3+ mths to do it. But I need to ride NOW! So I'm shopping with half the budget and trying to make compromises. There are options and it could work. BUT...I think I'll chill and build it as desired, piece by piece. Do it right, right from the start.
Soooo....if I had to choose a second bike that I might own, it could be a XC bike (http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/motobecane_fly_pro2006.htm)
I could use some extra aerobic work. Sure, take a rideable big bike on a trail ride and you'll get a good workout...but it's discouraging. You go nowhere fast, slow as fricken hell actually.
Plus...a bike so I can ride with the Wife (She's a total noob at biking...but She fricken hauls on Her Trek 4900WD when I do take Her out...I can't keep up even on flat ground with a DH bike)
That Motobecane is cheap as dirt....considering it's parts spec and runs about 23lbs. The Fly 9357 (http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/fly_9357_06sale.htm) is even lighter by about 2lbs, mostly the fork I think...but certainly isn't worth the extra $300us to me personally.
That Fly-Pro is just under $1000can delivered to the border. (I'd go pick it up State side)...I can't lose. Time to dig out the old school padded for the prostate shorts
