since there's a ton of threads on tire info and questions, why not keep it all in one great thread?
this seach brings up most of the tire threads.

Great idea.
BTW, how much does it cost if I buy stuff from the States. Like, do I pay taxes and stuff? Brokerage?
Also, someone offered to send me a $10,000 cashier's check for my used Nevegal (85% tread left) on the Buy&Sell. Is this, like, a scam?

It's probably the same fellow that wants to transfer $10mil US into my bank account from Nigeria. Oh, the bikes I'll buy when that money comes through!

If one buys goods from the states they should take into account not only the exchange rate, provincial and federal taxes but also import duties. Plus there are shipping charges the cost of gas and the effect on the local economy. The tax rate is normally provincially based so we need to know where you are located. Brokerage is only paid if the good are transferred through a brokerage house. If you ship UPS you will likely need to pay brokerage. I would just buy local unless you save like $9,945 on a Nevegal or something like that.-------------------> If you were offered a $10,000 cashier's cheque for a USED Nevegal you should think about keeping it to yourself and offer him other tires that retail for a higher price to maximize your profits. It may or may not be a scam. I would ask to meet face to face and have the buyer come into the bank to cash the cheque with you. Even if he/she is an out of towner, for the $10K I would consider a trip to the UK or Poland or Nigeria to get your money for the tire. Not all things are too good to be true, but $10,000 for a 15% worn tire is pretty good money. Next time shoot me a PM, I think I have a tire I could give you so you can make even more money.

Well you should take the iPod back to where you bought it. While you are deciding on a replacement or while it is being repaired you can borrow my tape walkman or ghetto blaster.

NO WAY MAN!!! I call first dibs.
I have a Tioga Farmer John tire. They rock for dorps to fault.
Here is a picture of my ride showing the tires. Sweet old school goodness.

The number of sarcastic posts is directly proportional to the lack of searching done by noobs, and the number of repetitive new threads posted about the same topics.
Now to be constructive: I don't think a sticky would work as a definitive tire thread, because no one will bother reading through the previous 250 posts on the topic. So I think we're stuck with a certain amount of new tire threads. However, there would be fewer new threads created if people did a search first for the tires they are considering (using keywords such as "Maxxis" "Michelin" "Nevagal", etc.).
Lightbulb moment: Create a dedicated Tire forum. Also a dedicated Ipod forum.

Ok here is an other dh and fr tire question. I just saw that maxxis will be releasing the Minion front rear and highroller in a 3C model that has 70a for the base layers, 40a for top and middle nobs and 42a for the sides.
It sounds like this has all the best elements. Now what tire for the rear if i go with a minion front? Highroller or minion rear?

^ With those choices, Minion front for the rear. But even better, the Comp24 Michelin dual ply 2.2" for a 4X bike (that is the bike you're building right?).
