Whats the difference between these 2 tires?

Blue Groove if a front specific tire.
Nevegal can be both front and rear.
I like to run dual Nevegals. I've run both combo's, and dual Nev's is my favorite.

I've never used Nevegals but I found with the Blue Groove that the amazing stickyness only lasts about a week or two and then they're just average.

Interesting. I've used both tires and worn both completely out, and never found anything remotely like your experience.
They were kick ass to the bitter end.

Hmmm.. I had 3 through the season that I used them (2005) and all of them I found this with. They're very consistent after the initial "loss" of stickyness (still what I would consider "good") but they were exceptionally sticky when brand new. I'm talking nose-mannies down wet logs sticky...

Thanks Guys, Here's the deal, I've got a 2.5 Nevegal on the front, its awesome, I've got a New Gazzaladi on the back, not so awesome. There's a 2.5 blue groove I can pickup for the back cheap but I'm not sure if there's any advantage to doing that. Whadya think?

The Blue Groove is supposed to be a front tire. It won't be great on back, it isn't supposed to go there.
Put the Nevegal on the back and the new Blue Groove up front. Its a nice combo.
The Gazzalodi's are horrible tires for around here.

Hey Corey, maybe this is the difference: I used the Kevlar bead ones, not the wire bead, maybe there's a difference in final treatment of the tires...

That might be the case. I've never used the Kevlar bead ones..they are significantly lighter than the wire bead, and might be a dual compound tire to accomplish part of that (in addition to the bead).
I would be interested to hear your feedback on the wire bead ones, because I have never noticed any decrease in grip (aside from decreasing tread depth) with the wire bead tires, and nobody else i know running them has either (and they have never flatted them either...)

I'd give some if I had it, but I haven't used the wire ones. Plus I'm too into Maxxis right now to go back. But who knows, maybe down the road...

I run a 24 on the rear so front / back swapping is not an option.
Probably best to pony up the extra for a Nevegal for the rear.
I'll keep the Gazzi for Whistler . Thanks for the input Guys.

I have the kevlar bead 2.35 Nevegals DTC (Dual Traction Compound) on my 4X and found they are great in everything except the wet. You have to run very low psi in the wet and even then it's just plain scary. The wire bead nevegal's are a ton better overall.

I'm using dual 2.5 Nevegals DH casing, tubeless, with no less than 30 psi. Traction is outstanding, whether it be hard pack, wet roots, or muck, and they roll pretty fast. I previously used a Blue Groove on the front and didn't like it as much as the Nevegal. It seemed to pack up really easy.

I have the same tires, never had anything better. Just never ride them on asphalt, they wont last long.
i had a blue groove /nevegal combo at first, but realyl never liked the Blue groove..
it simply wasnt confidence inspiring in low traction conditions... unlike the Nevegal which is a very good tire for the price...
i suggest using the blue groove up on teh rear till its worn then run dual nevegals..rear tire traction isnt nearly as important as frt anyways.

A Good front tire is a must... but not with a crap back tire. I find, it makes for a unbalanced bike.
i wouldnt say the blue groove is a crappy back tire..
its certianly not a fantastic tire but its worth trying if he has the tire already.

Well, I would have to disagree with you on that!
Maybe in summer at whister, on hard pack. It might work well. But North shore slop, in the spring with wet roots. It would be Crap...

I ran dual Nevegal's last year and they will be on both my wife's bike and mine this year. Great tire, not a bad price either.

how much are u guys paying for the kendas? 50?
corey: this may sound like a really stupid question, but is there any way to tell just by looking at a nevegal which one it is? im not sure what the difference between folding, kevelar, and wire bead is. I think mine says folding bead on it(not sure, ill check tomorrow) but i think i can see the wire reflecting on the sidewalls. just wondering what i have for future reference, becuase so far, they rock.

Good question.
Folding bead is the Kevlar bead. It is a light'ish tire, and you can fold it up and distort its shape by hand really easily.
Wire bead is a more heavy tire, and trying to bend it out of shape (ie: not round) is very difficult.
Difference is night and day.

yup. posernewbie just sold 2 for 50 each. ;D
I'm not paying MSRP. that's like buying a new tire for my Honda.
Cap's on NW had them for 58 a few times already.

im pretty sure that i have the folding one. oh well, i will just run high pressure, that should keep them from flatting. they were 30 each, so i cant complain.

the folding one doesnt say "dh casing" on it either and is very light. recommended for light/xc use only ...
go 2.35/2.5" dh casing...

Yes, it could be unbalanced...but if either end should be compromised...always the back end:)
