Has anyone built up a new Lenosky Giant STP frame (blue one). I'm thinking about gettting one or if anyone has the new 8speed STP complete I would love to hear any feedback and or pictures.

Thanks
C

STP is a dope frame. I rode mine last year witought a single problem. The geometry is spot on, welds are nice, and its fairly light.

STP is a kick ass frame. Stiff, light and manuals like a dream. Geometry is spot on. I've rocked one for two years now - never a problem. Don't be afraid of the zero stack headset either - it's bombproof. Buy one, you won't regret it!

yes...giant is not cheap stuff...even though it is built in taiwan, the stp is a quality frame

What did you expect? The Santa Cruz Jackal goes for 400 and frames like the black market mob sell for 600... the evil imperial costs 900. Thus, Iīd say the STP isnīt an extremely expensiv hardtail frame.

Well the Banshee Scratch is a way better frame than the STP and it goes for 400, thats why i was a bit shocked. Anyways, i don't know much about the prices of "good" frames. i have a Steelhead and it cost me $175 haha

I donīt know if the Banshee Scratch is a better frame, never rode one. The azonic stuff is really cheap. I donīt really know if itīs worth it to spend so much money for a hardtail frame. Iīm not talking about the STP but about stuff like the evil imperial. 950$ for a hardtail! What are the differences between all the hardtail frames? Weight? Geometry? Chainstay length? Look? Thatīs basically it and they are all very close together. I think you wouldnīt notice a huge difference between a 300$ and a 900$ frame.

I ride -JNL-`s Scratch sometimes. Just to tell you...it ride`s nice but it is an absolute tank. And I agree with you on not spending 950 on a frame. All frames will break one day no matter if they cost 175, 400 or 950. It just depends if you can afford to snap a $900 frame or not. You are right the only major differences are weight and geometry. Personally I bought my frame based on 2 factors: price and geometry. Yes Azonic is cheap stuff but think about it...what if me and some guy on a $900 frame both snap our frames...who will feel worse?

Companies which produce high end frames tend to put alot more time and effort into their designs and craftmenship and choice of material. This usually results in stronger and better designs to make your ride more enjoyable. Myself, i would much rather ride a frame that is designed well than some mass produced pos.

Choice of material? hmmm let`s see... 4130, 6061, 7005 take your pick. Not much choice.

obviously you lack knowledge about tubing specs...I suggest you do some research..and its not just material..its also hows its built, where its built, etc.

yea, you think its that simple? not really. Have you taken a look at how highly manipulated tubing has become now-a-days? Lots of research and TIME (time = money) goes into the making of these frames. Chromo frames are no different though. Just cuz they arent manipulated quite like aluminum doesnt mean a shit load of time and goes into the making of their frames. The companies that make you pay a premium usualy do so cuz they have lots of man hours put into a single frame. The chances of getting a good frame are much better when you deal with these kinds of companies. Assembly line frames have less time put into a simgle frame, but that doesnt mean alot of research went into the design of the frame before production.

Saying a bike is shit cuz it was built in taiwan is pretty bogus with todays standards.

I sort of agree with both of you. Sure there are definitely differences. I don´t think companies like Azonic put neccessarily less effort into their frame design than companies like let´s say black market. It´s mostly that Azonic has a lot more money etc. so that they can offer their frames for a lower price. I´m not saying that there are no differences at all between all the hardtail frames but I don´t think that there are any major differences between all the ht frames.

@ -JNL- I also lack knowledge about tubing specs... but honesty: Do you feel any difference between 6061 and 7005? Any performance differences?

I´d rather save some money on the frame and get nicer parts. However, that´s the way I see it and it would be horrible if everybody would think about it the same way. If I´d pick a ht frame right now, I´d take an Orange Sinister DNA (600$), the lenosky giant or a green santa cruz jackal. The reason why I´d pick those three? To be honest, just because of the look. I´m not planning on buying a new ht frame (I´m happy with my P2) and my choice might be different if I´d actually buy one. But still, I doubt that there are major differences between all those frames.
