Canon A620

I have the A520 only 4 MPixels but i love it. tons of adjustments, sweet colour. Shutter speed goes from 15 sec to 1/2000 sec

A620 is either 5 or 7 Mpixel not sure which and should be within your budget with some room for Sd card

if your looking at a ultrazoom compact i reccomend a panasonic fz5
good resolution 12x zoom and is quite abit smaller then its competiton while offering most of the same adjustments.
nikon s4 is a good option if you want somthing small aswell.
i am in the same situation of camera shopping as you. and i narrowed my choice down to the fz5......but i think im gonna go the extra step and pick up a d50 or olympus evolt -500
as for a couple hundred more you get a faster camera and the ability to do much more with a dslr. plus i really like the control you have with the slr's

get an olympus stylus 600 or 800.......... its an all weather camera perfect for biking... i have to 800, its 8 mp and the 600 is 6 mp... the 800 is a bit more than 600 but the 600 is probably around there
