For those of you who are wondering what this is all about have a look here :

So far, Fionn Griffith and Sarah Bloom will be the coaches, which gives the clinic both a SOLID background in 4x and BMX.
We are going to go through everything from the gate call, balancing on the gate, cornering, getting used to riding beside people, etc...
The cost will be very minimal ($10.00), and we would like to do a lunch after the clinic. There will be racing that evening, so you can try your new skills if you feel that you are ready!

I just wanted to vent as I was so looking forward to getting off the Island & riding with the girls at the Abby Girls Clinic! I got up @ 0500 to catch the 0700 ferry , got there in plenty of time & they :announce: that there will be no ferry service until at least 1100 & that is not guaranteed either:mad: I hope that everyone else had a good time !!

completely fantastic, lots of women (girls) showed up, youngest was 6 years old (and she rocked!!! super fast). not sure how many of us there were - 20? best saturday i've spent in a long time. learned some great tips on cornering, gates and manualsl, and the munchies were wicked. now i'm totally exhausted and need a nap!!
total props to jenelle for organizing it and to fionn and sarah for being awesome instructors.
hopefully the same sort of camp can be set up during the summer as well.

I am still sometimes a bit shaky on the gate. Once I actually fell sideways off the gate and swan dove down a 10 ft mound of loose dirt. My face was black, and I got dirt down my shirt and pants.
The girl I was lined up with was looking the other way, and when she looked back I had vanished. It was comical.
Thank god, it was during practice only, and not too many spectators were at the bike show yet.
I swear, I am the queen of doing stupid things on my bike...

I was wondering about you ladies from the island!!! What crazy weather. We will do this again for sure, and you will have to come over.
There were 23 ladies total, all of different ages and riding background. It was pretty cool to watch the progression during the clinic!
Oh, and thanks for letting me race with you ladies:) That was super fun!

If you flip all your worn underwear inside out you can wear it twice.

Falling down the side of a dirt hill sucks...but manualing for half a kilometer completely out of control before eating dirt...far more humiliating. :o
Yeah, the camp was awesome!

It's me...crazy rider...embarrassingly crazy driver!
Are you Kamloops 1, 2, or 3?!
By the way, I made sure to rub in how great the camp was to Little Canada ;) If she woulda made it over, I woulda had a different bike and not been manually all over the country on that little BMX that was so gratiously loaned to me by Laura.

Well I don't even know which Kamloops I was? I had the black S and M bmx and I remembered your name and didn't call you Vic.

02-11-2006, 11:42 PM
Does that make me Kamloops 2 then? Vic was my arch nemisis on the track...until she manualed like 1/2 of the track...how do you compete with that?

I totally remember that - you almost landed on me- I was busy talking and waiting for my turn on the gate and then there you where -- I remember just being so worried you where gonna miss the dirt and land right on the cement floor..
