Got any? I have a bunch....getting back into shape after the feasting of course. Riding my bike more, doing some races....
Well ok, they aren't brought on just by New years, but what are your goals for 06?

Fluid

Well, I don't make New Years resolutions, but my goals for 2006 are to get into running (just bought some REAL running shoes), ride at least one downhill race, and just ride as much as I can all around. This has been the first winter that I have continued to keep riding straight through and not stop in September or October to pick up again in April, so I think I'm already off to a good start! Although, I just had a fall on Monday which has resulted in a damaged and possibly torn rotator cuff :(

I think my big one is to do a road race for the first time and:

a. not get carried away in a stretcher for lung/heart failure
b. not come last
c. enjoy every last aching second of it

My goals for 2006 are pretty simple. Ride as often as I can. Stay focused on long-term goals...school will be taking priority for a while. Make sure I get enough sleep. :)

I'd just be pleased to get out riding a bit more. I always have the best intentions but when the bike season hits I am ran off my feet!

My overwhelming goal of this season is to make through the entire season without getting injured. I had a really rough season last year (my first year racing on a duallie - I think I tried to progress too fast) - ended up off for 6 weeks with a compression fracture in my T11. Sucked. I'm also hoping to move up to Expert so that I have more than one other girl to race against :)

When are you out here in the summer? Download the mtb races from www.cycling.bc.ca (http://www.cycling.bc.ca) and make sure that you schedule in a race when you are out so that you can race with some more girls!
How did you do your T11?

caitlin
01-19-2006, 01:59 PM
Yeah I'm trying! Kerensa (she used to live here and now is in Prince George) and I are trying to coordinate so we can hit a race together again - we haven't raced together since our first few races two seasons ago. Ahhh that seems so long ago!

My T11 was the result of taking a beauty swan dive in the dump at Camp Fortune (about 15 minutes from Ottawa) during practice the day before my favourite race of the season. I landed on my head and twisted - tore all the muscles in my rib cage - went for xrays they sent me home saying I was fine and then a week later they called and told me I had actually broken it and suggested I get some stronger pain killers. I don't advise that injury - it really sucks because you can't lie down or walk or sit comfortably for a long time!

Hey Caitlin! Glad to see you here! How's the Gravitess thing going?
Sorry to hear about your injuries :( That's not good at all.

Gravitesse is great - lots of work! We're doing a women's weekend at Fortune this summer - you should try to time your visit home for it (we're thinking the end of July - just waiting for confirmation from the owner of the hill - he's super stoked on getting more women riding so that's cool)!

We also just re-launched our website too - go check it out!

We also launched an official race team this year and have signed Sheila Morris who rocks my socks - I'm pretty excited for the season to start!

How's Calgary treatin' ya?

Wow sounds like you've been busy! Glad to hear you're having fun!

I'm no longer in Calgary...I moved to Thunder Bay for a new job a few weeks ago. I'll be making a few trips down to Ottawa over the summer...I'll be sure to come to do some riding!!!

I love Sheila Morris! Do you ever talk to her?
Ask her if she remembers an amazing female dancer at the Sunpeaks nationals after party like 4 years back?

caitlin
01-26-2006, 06:38 AM
Dan - Thunder Bay?!!? Woah. What are you doing there! Yay come visit often! We can ride together lots and lots!

Cheryl - You can find her on the Gravitesse forums if you want to talk to her - she goes by sheila_m - but I will definitely pass on your message right now - I talk to her all the time!

Thanks I'd love to chat with her sometime. She was soooo cool. I think she has some sweet video of me at an after party though!

I have lots... lets see.. continue to eat good, resist chocolate, find a good job so i dont have to work 7days a week at 2 jobs i absoloutly hate, pay off the mc, get mechanically sound low km car and not sell it after 6 months, run often, many many road trips to whistler to ride, finish learning how to snowboard, save money to take a course (this will take 3 years if i save 200 $ a month) So my goal is to be finished the course and have my licence (esthetics) and have a job doing so by the time i am 24.
Work out hard and be strong and confident that i can loose the weight.. i only have the belly/lovehandles left to make dissapear.

I don't really make resolutions, but I do have some goals for next year.

1. Race Dh,even gonna enter the WorldMasters this year on account of my age.

2. Improve dirt jumping skills....more flow less hack.

3. Compete at MetroJam Vancouver.....if they have a girls class again.

4. Ride more Dh trails......lotsmore.

I have a list of tricks to learn for next year too.

Hey Caitlin, good to see you on the forums...if you come out to B.C, you'll have to stop in Kamloops, for sure....we can ride SunPeaks!

Hey Linds - good goals! Glad to see you are going to race out there - hey imagine you that you won't be the ONLY girl!!!

I will definitely try my bestest to come to Kamloops - sounds like a good place to be!

Dan - want to time our trips out west together? I'm definitely going this summer ... the girl I was supposed to go with is getting married so she doesn't have extra funds to travel to BC anymore ... (at least she is waiting until after the season so we don't have to juggle racing AND a wedding!) :D

Oooh! That sounds like a good plan...I will be low on funds for a bit...but I should be good by July time...

Kamloops is so fun!

Funfunfunfun! I can finally show you around Sunpeaks in the summer. I'll show you all around town too!

Ok I have a question about Kamloops. Where would you take people from out of town? I'm curious because I haven't lived there in about 10 years and while I do go back to visit my folks a few times a year I generally avoid the actual town (my folks live out in Barnhartvale). There are likely new cool things there that didn't exist when I lived there. Let me know!

cheryl@nsmb.com
01-26-2006, 02:05 PM
I live in BHV too! I love it out there.
I am assuming you mean riding? I love taking friends to Rose Hill, the Bike Ranch, Harper and Jamieson. If someone has the time checking out Greenstone or Merritt is a definate experience. I love riding the chairlift at Sunpeaks in the summer but they don't open till the end of June and most of the outta towns seem to hit up Kamloops in the spring when things are just drying up.

Curlzilla

Actually I meant other stuff because you mentioned showing people around town. So I was curious what you'd show them! ;)

C'mon Cheryl...you could show them the cool Greek place we always eat at...MMmmmm Greeeeek!

And...you had mentioned how cheap it was to play golf out there...that would be cool! And you said you like to float around in the river when it's really hot out. And...you could take people to the smutty clear-healed shoe store...always good for the newbies!

Hmmm...what else....

SRH
01-27-2006, 06:07 AM
Oh and what about the Mountain bike park? That's fun too...even though I didn't get to ride it when I was down last...

And there's that other funky little tapa place we went to up near the Jysk place...

No there is a new place downtown, Dorian. Tango is the sweetest new place in town too.
But mostly there is lots of new riding which is all most of us care about anyways.

Hey ladies! I'm back from my sabbatical. . . . now that school is in full swing and I have absolutely no time at all, I think procrastinating on the internet seems like a good thing to get back into!
Just finished a sick wet slushy snow/rain ride at burke, that dispite how much it could of sucked was the most fun riding I've had in months!

Ahhhh lets see resolutions/goals for 06

#1 actually train this year! and I mean train . . like put on some freakin muscles and work on cornering and learn some new skills
#2 LIKE: REALLY learn how to bunny hop (yeah I know you already know that one!)
#3 do the whole world cup series, and do my best . . . (I'm hoping for a podium)
#4 get some financial support (I'm always open to any ideas?)
#5 meet more chicks who rip!

Hey I'm riding more often these days, well that means I'm actually riding. So if anyone would like to hook up let me know. I like to climb up but shuttling is good for lots of runs - so either.

It's good to see all you guys out on the forum!
peace out

we went to tango when we first moved here, it was good but kind of greasy? so for our annaversery dinner tonight we opt for the keg.. then a nice walk on the beach :)

If you come visit me - Kamloops is between here and Whistler and the race at Fernie :-) Have you purchased a ticket yet??

I'm trying to figure it out - tickets are over $800 :( After paying for my new Boxxer World Cup and my trip to Europe ... well money is a bit tight - not to mention we're about to hit race season ... I _really_ need a sugar daddy - any takers?

Well I've recently relocated to Kamloops...my relationship went to hell in a handbasket and I packed my bags and headed west. After 5 years I thought I was gonna spend the rest of my life with this guy...and then just like that it's over!

On the positive side...I get to hang out and have fun with my best friend Cheryl and hopefully become a better mountain biker. Should turn out to be a good summer...

It's been rough...just taking each day one at a time right now. Cheryl has been great and trying to keep my spirits up and get my mind off stuff. I'm sure once I get out on my bike a bit more that will also help. It would be great to be able to hook up and ride with you for sure! How's your daughter doing? She's such a sweetheart!

oh thanks for asking - she is doing amazing- only lately I am so busy I have not been making the time for her I need to - today she asked me if that when I finish my thesis I could get a job that doesn't take up so much of my time..... oh the guilt .....oh my heart strings...

yah - she is almost seven - she is old enough to start ripping up the trails with me which is exciting - she already kicks my ass snowboarding - she has been at it for 3 years and does jumps and has no fear of speed - I have her starting bmx racing - she has no fear of anything - so yah - I am a proud mama and love her to death - she is a pretty cool little thing - she has also started acting so we have been driving all over this province to go to festivals for that - oh don't start me talking about my daughter I turn into a total geek- hehe....

SRH

Crazy that she's 7 already! I think it's great that she's gonna start doing the bmx thing! So cool! She must be excited! What about you? You gonna race with her?
