Highlights of this year... wow

New daughter and one more on the way

This will complete the first year "give or take a few months" I have been on a mountain bike. I did not know what the NSMBA was or what North Shore riding was.

being able to put hundreds of hours on trail work on Fromme with some of the best builders is also a huge deal for me as well.

Learning through the NSMBA how the district works by going to almost every district meeting that had NSMBA issues on the table.

And riding... I was on Fromme at least 3 times a week this year and have not killed myself :)

Meeting a lot of new people this year and making some new friends thanks to Team Shuttlewhore!

Sure am glad I moved to Lynn Valley as my whole outlook on life has done a 180

Team ShuttleWhore creation - at first I thought I was becoming a bad influence on the guys by drinking and riding. The Ripper confirmed I was.

Road trip with Rat to the Kootenays and chilling with trout. I'm glad I have met him, super cool guy/rider.

Also riding with Loopie in kamloops again - always a blast.

Looking forward to next season:

ripping Oasis in Rossland on a tandem with trout. If we survive, then doing it again at night.

Silverstar with my two boys.
Sumas with 10 others I met because of NSMB.
Almost 100 rides on local mountains, including Seymour, Fromme, Burke, Woodlot, Vedder, Sumas, Ledgeview, Cypress (bikepark).
Finally finished the Ledgeviewmap enought to release it.
Did some trail work finally. (being a rock bitch qualifies, don't it?)

No major injuries!!

Downsides:
Became disconnected from a good riding bud.
After 3 years on this board, still haven't met Lady Gravity.

Getting back on a bike for the first time since 1998.

That same project bike.

Resto-overhauling a vintage Raleigh roadster.

Velomutations.

The Little 100.

The Commercial Drive car-free festival.

8am weekend coffee/herb/skatepark cruises with my BMX buddies.

Nailing my first sprocket grind on my first try.

Achieving a 30% fakie/rollback success ratio.

Discovering the fine collective that is PedalPower/PedalPlay/OCB/etc.

The ghetto spot on the south shore of False Creek.

I'm super-stoked about having been injury-free for 2005. 7 days per week riding from February to October, tonnes of personal progression and improvement, can't even count all the new trails (just moved here Oct 2004), rediscovering everything all over again in July when I got on my Demo 9.

But by far the biggest point is the injury-free thing. That one stokes me every time I think about it.

Looking forward to another amazing season of the same; lots of progression, lots of new trails, NO INJURIES IN 2006!

Crankworx was a def. highlight, and the highlight of crankworx was darren's 360 over the road gap. i nearly died. the noise was incredible.

Red Bull Elevation was another highlight. seeing the best bmxers ride in real life after watching endless videos of them was so surreal. the highlight of elevation was having my pic taken with and meeting chris doyle (swoon). that and having 3/5 red bull girls choose to look at my camera when there was a media whorage of a thousand cameras around them. woot.

riding whistler for a few days was also another highlight. my fav times were doing solo sessions from the top of garbanzo to the village and talking to nature the entire time (not kidding. i scare myself sometimes). popping out of a berm in the dark woods to golden light glowing off the dust and trees and bushes is so amazing.

above all though, the best times of this year were spent shooting pics and riding with my buddies.

goal for next year:
ride more, shoot more.

There ain't no cure for the summertime blues. I can't wait till spring, In the past year, I enjoyed Crankworx, riding everyday while living in squamish. Trips up to whistler for extended play. The Curved wall in the bone yard, best thing whistler has built. GK Ripper was awesome as usual. Riding in Kamloops in the fall, I forgot how completely different it is compared to coastal riding. I would also like to acknowledge a trip I took to Osoyoos, which was awesome.

Dialing in some confidence, hitting Whistler and the Cypress Park, dropping my biggest hit yet and getting to see the Falls City, OR trails last weekend. Breaking the SGS and using that as an excuse to buy two bikes to replace it (and my wife actually going for it), NWD 6, buying body armor right before a crash that would have broken my shoulder without the armor. Good year, can't wait for '06!

Pros:
-Crankworx. No explanation needed.
-All those times at Mt Washington. Esepecially VPS fest. Too bad i cant remember much of it.
-All those riding days with the Duncan crew.
-Getting my new bike as a result of a wicked deal from my insurance
-The one single moment that i remember the best was right after i did the C-wall for the first time. It was the last day of a 3 day trip to Whistler and i had been eyeing it up the whole time, then once i finally decided to go for it, i stuck it perfectly! After a few more tries, I would X-up from big box to small box tranny, then almost air off the end of the C-wall. That was just unbelievable. Never going to forget it.

Cons:
-Shattering my kneecap, missing Whister and Washington open. TONS of recurring pains.
-Having my bike stolen.

Highlights.
3 days in whistler with some great friends at the end of September.
Finally getting quarter pipe airs.
finally landing a 360
Riding nearly everyday in the summer.
Helping to build some new dirtjumps.
Working towards getting a dirt jump park built in this damned city.
Lots of good times at millenium.

cons.
Dislocating my shoulder for the first time ever over Easter and having it come out 5 times since.

This next season's looking good, put my down payment on a new bike for this season, going to be switching up the setup on my hardtail as well so that I have essentially two new bikes. Can't freaking wait.

way too many to count!

but mostly, just being in the forest with good people and having good times.

and of course the shuttle whore crew for always pushing the boundaries...

like Matt said, staying injury free is also a personal highlight for me. i injured myself more building on trails this year than riding on them ...

for next year most of my goals are actually trail building goals. sure i want to continue to ride lots, but there's a few pieces of trail work i'm dying to get on ...

Highlights:
TONS of riding with alot of good people/awesome riders.
Getting more trailwork done, kind of "giving up" on trailwork only to see others pick up the torch and do some top-shelf work.
My new ride.
Acquiring some form of style which previously did not exist...I guess we can call that the continuance of my progression.
Taking some awesome photos of places/people I've ridden with.
Getting a job at a LBS (if you consider 10 mi/16k away LOCAL).
I still have a ride or two left this year, so I won't mention an injury-free-year...yet.:shhh:

Lowlights:
Riding 0 (zero, nil, zip, zilch, none, nada) days north of the border...or in Oregon, Idaho or Montana (Hi, Chris!!).
Not getting a contract (wait, I wasn't striving for one - would have been nice all the same).

All-in-all I have to say it was an awesome year. Very looking forward to '06 and what lies in waiting for me and everybody else!!!:D

Pros:
-New bike, gave me confidence and ability to push my boundries even more but in a cool way I never once this season felt out of control while riding my bike.
-Riding Freight Train which was wayyyyyy too much fun
-Crankworks and the three days of consecutive riding that I got to experience in Whistler on the mountain where I progressed and did so many new things while going bigger and faster than ever
-Riding with my buddie Kyle, I had so much fun riding with him and it seems like a progress sooo much when riding with him.

cons:
-not riding enough

my hi lites were getting to know all the SSC locals. good bunch of riders and dudes..I think we almost have more builders than riders!

hitting the ski jump..hit it and you will understand.

also of course meeting the s.whores was damn good and the 5 laps we did that day here on the coast were too damn good. the s.whores are just good dudes.

narrowly avoiding death on the 5th horseman whilst rat chatted on his cellie and nose manualed all the chutes was also a hi-lite for me. my ribs are almost entirely painfree now and its only been what 4 months?

dude that's sweet, one of my friends has a veggie car old skool mercedes and a biodiesel powerstroke ford, stoked to see some more people dedicated.

Hmm, well I had a lot of vicious wrecks this year and destroyed several bikes, but other than that it was pretty sweet.

1.) Sessioning the Shore... the first time I came up I couldn't do anything, now we come up and just start hitting up the biggest stunts as they come at us, fun fun.

2.) Whistler trip... did it for hell cheap and had a hoot of a time

3.) Learned a bunch of new tricks

4.) Got hella faster, getting comfortable on a maxed out bike up on Silver Mountain, and then almost hitting a full size bull moose, and a bear on the same run lol.

5.) Dinner table flatties off of anything that is a jump on the DH bike... my highlight of the year,
