I just moved to kamloops with about a week of riding left and my bike needs new tires so I wanting to know what kind of tires are good around here. I downhill race, I going in the Sun Peaks bike festival in 15 year old divition along with The Full Boar Challenge for hardtail class and some other little races. I need a tire for the hard packed conditions of Sun Peaks and then one for the loose sandy conditions at Rose Hill and other local trails. I also want one for wet muddy conditions, mainly for the Full Boar Challenge at Greenstone. Also recommend which one would be a good all around tire. I also want to know what most of the trails around here are like condition wise so I now what set to buy first because my races are all later in the year.

My list of tires I was looking at are:

Kenda Nevegal DH
Kenda Blue Groove
Maxxis Highroller
Maxxis Minion
Maxxis Mobster
Maxxis Swampthing
Bontrager Big Earl
WTB Timberwolf

Remember I need a set for mud, dry and loose and dry compact (for Sun Peaks and other mountains)

Any help would be greet thanks

Don't get Minions. Comp 24, High Rollers, Big Earls are fine for Kamloops.

So why the HR over the Minions?

My front 50A Mobster 2.5 washes out on quite a few areas where I thought it would stick, even at about 22 PSI. Not the greatest choice for me.

Nevagal has been great.

I've said this a hundred times, so for the people who have read this, nevermind it.

The Minions are good tires when new. The front specific version is a better tire for the front or the back than what the rear specific one is (I know that didn't make sense). The problem is that the design of the center knobs does not constitute good braking traction by their design. Once the rear tire's center knobs round out a little, there's very little straight line braking. Although, the side knobs offer pretty good traction. If you think about how a Comp 24's knobs work (in the right direction), it offers better braking traction whether you're up straight or pitched to the side.

Eddie Allen, former mechanic at Steed told me this before I bought them, but I decided to buy them anyway. Well, he was right.

The super tacky High Rollers are better for longer mainly because there's more space between the knobs, thus I assume there's less of a chance of 'floating' and more 'biting'. Although, HR's don't take long to wear down and when they show good signs of wear, aren't exactly a great tire either. For Kamloops, they are pretty damn good.

I apologize in advance for the retentiveness.
