The shitty old speed v seat I was using on my bike is starting to look a little ripped. I want to get a bmx seat like a shadow conspiracy seat to replace it, but I'm not sure if the 8mm rails will fit my thomson seatpost. Anybody know if it'll fit?

The shadow seat is pretty sweet, I have one and it looks sick. It should fit your seat post....i think anyways
But yea go for the shadow.

yeah I'm thinking the slim. I know the 9mm rails won't fit, it's just a question of the 8mm ones

And you are an idiot. He didn't ask for a new seat, he asked if the seat he wants to get will work with his seatpost.

you can also use a sort of dremol tool on a drill, and make the grooves a bit bigger on the set post.

I suppose that 's an option too. I've already fucked up the thomson pretty good (It's all scratched on the sides)

^ No, I don't think you want to do that. You may weaken the seatpost.
I used a WTB seatpost w/ 8mm rails sucessfully with a Thopmson on my Bullit. It's a little finicky to get it all lined up & set up but it can be done.

To contribute to the thread, I have a 9mm Snafu BMX seat on a syncros MTB post on my Demo... its survived whistler and countless bails so I am sure it will be fine.

I got a cheapo Kalloy post on my bullit. 9mm rails on my SDG dirt jump saddle fit fine. Super sturdy and ive taken pretty hard ass first landings up on eagle.
according to thompson you can only use 7mm rails with their posts, but i have set one up with a 9mm rail seat and it has yet to have a problem. So all i can say is go for it.

u have got to be f-ing kidding me. i wouldn't dremel a thomson seatpost... plus i rather ride on a seat clamped that's slightly bigger than it should than a seatpost that dremel'd (thinner = weaker).

Sorry, I forgot how things where your from work..
[grunt] MMGGM! MORE METAL! MGGMM! BETTER! I LIKE METAL!!! [grunt]
I LIKE CHERIOS< THE ONES THAT SAY HONEY NUT!
How is grinding the outside edge of the groove 1mm going to toast a seat post, unless your sitting on it sideways? I'm serious, Id like to know. Wouldn't it be stronger, having the force spread over more surface area, instead of the all the force on the edges because it can't seat properly?

I dunno, thinking about it, I'd probably just switch to a different seatpost. The guts on the thomson are just fine too. It's just kinda scratched. I screwed up installing it, and forgot to lube it at all. It's just got some marrs. I also ride with my seat all the way down to the collar for street so it's marred from top to bottom
