Hillside?

yeah, they are aluminum hardtails with a design similiar to the older cove stiffee. They were a company which started in West Van and went under. They are made for 3 - 4 inch forks and climb worse than a bike with 7 inches of rear suspension, but they desend like a dream. Im pretty sure they were designed with steep tech sections in mind.
Heres ,my red one. I set it up for XC before i sold it.

Currently I am riding an 02 Kona stinky D frame, to replace the 02 primo which broke. I also still ride the norco trials and the Kona Score. The Norco trials has been repaired by dekerf and has one of their flame paint jobs. The Score is so damn cool and rare that I will never sell it.

I can get some pics by tomorrow. The Score is the only titanium freeride hardtail that I know of. I talked to Dik at Kona and he said they only made 100 frames.

ATB, you have the sexiest pair of bikes. Ever.:D

I have had:
A green Miele. Rigid.
Sold it for a-
Pro-Flex 856 with the Girvin Fork. For XC
Traded that-
in to Rocky's for a Norco Bomber. MY first real true Mountain Bike.
I blew the Air shock...
Swapped the parts to a .243
Sold it to a Police Officer for his son.
Bought Elaine's Giant with the money, and then got Tammy's Jr.T for her.
Now I have a 2004 Devinci 8 flat 8, with a Sherman
Got a Pipeline frame from Zed for a case of Stella, and built it with parts I had around. Sold the frame to Jake-
And I now have a sweet green Kona HT and built it up with the stuff from the Pipeline. I'll have pics of that bike in the next two days. It's purdy!

Since I was 5 years old...

No-name banana seat cruiser with no pedals! (squished under my Dad's car!)
1985 Raleigh Racing BMX (stolen!)
My sister's cruiser (stolen!)
1986 Raleigh Racing BMX (stolen!)
1991 Specialized Stumpjumper (stolen!)
1994 Giant ATX 770 (stolen!)
80's Centurion road racer (stolen!)
My mom's 3-speed cruiser (stolen!)
TODAY: 2005 Kona Stinky (U-locked to the wall behind a locked door!!!)

Nobody's gonna touch this one, I swear :rawr:

Here's what I can remember
-1975 Norco cruiser, banana yellow with a banana seat
-1976/77 fully sprung (I won't say suspended, exactly) MX looking bike (cant remember if it was a Norco or a BRC)
-Mongoose supergoose (about 1979) - broke it
-another one - broke it too
-3rd try - got stolen
-'82 Cycle Pro Macho (BMX) -stolen, recovered, ridden to death and beyond.
-'83 Pro-Fab Mini (very cool bike, CR-MO, euro BB) sold it to a family friend in 1988 - its still around somewhere.
84-88 -road bike phase, 'nuff said (even though I still have an old Dawes from the 70's around somewhere. Another very cool bike and one of the earlier attempts at an aluminium frame)
89 Novara Poverosa-fully rigid, still running (frame has been warranty replaced twice)
2006 Sinister Splinter MX (just as soon as it is available from the factory)

I skipped the whole 90's and half of the 00's as far as bike technology goes. Still never given a suspended bike (even a hard tail) a real run through the trails (parking lot tests don't count).

I'm not sure of the years but here it is:

Black BMX with yellow 3 spoke mag wheels - sweet
Kuwahara BMX
BRC 18-speed rigid
K2 rigid 21-speed - 853 Reynolds tubing, UBC days
Trek Carbon full suspension - first Trek swingarm bikes
Kona U'HU
Norco VPS1 - Black and Orange
Norco VPS1 - Green
Giant DH - Yellow/Red/Blue
Brodie 8-ball - black
Norco VPS1 - Green (same bike once again)
RM-7
Bighit DH
Trek Fuel 90 (for XC)
Demo 9
Blur 4X (current bike)
VPFree (current bike)

Not to start anything but from my experience's I like the Horst-Link bikes the best with the VPP design a close second .... it feels better on the downhill.

Didn't know Trimble made a MTB frame. Thought they only made a Tri frame.

I can't resist this.

Kids bikes to start off with of course:
A solid tire, fixed gear, 12" wheel special that I still have. It looks like something a plumber made on the weekend
CCM Duomatic banana seater. It had a two-speed coaster brake hub. You had to click back to switch gears and it worked flawlessly. It got stolen once when me and my buddies went to Wreck Beach to perv out (we were 11 or so). The thief tried all the bikes - including a shiny new 10 speed and decided to snag mine.
A BRC Harrier 5 speed - also still in the collection.

After that I caught the bug. A friend gave me a crappy old frame and I started building it up by salvaging parts and buying some new ones. It ended up having some nice parts on it and then it got jacked of course. I had started to work at a shop by then (1984) so we submitted an insurance claim and with that money I purchased a...

1984 Ritchey Timberline Rocky Mountain was importing them unpainted so you could choose an Imron colour. I picked out Mariner blue metallic. I put Tommaso levers on it, a Ritchey bullmoose bar and an XT groupo. I think it weighed about 26 pounds or so then. It was a work of fillet brazed art. I should say it still is because I still own it.

1987 Cannondale SR900 I got a staff discount on the frame and for $200 I got frame, fork, headset, front derailleur - all Campy Super Record. I built it up with mostly campy but I did a Suntour Superbe Pro drivetrain. It got jacked when I lived with a bunch of racers. Someone broke into the garage and took something like 8 bikes. Luckily I was away with my Ritchey.

1991 Rocky Mountain Altitude I picked this up after catching both the racing bug and the North Shore bug. It was a fantastic, light handmade steel hardtail.

1992 Dekerf Team One of my favourite bikes ever. So light and responsive and just plain sexy. It died a nobel death on GMG.

1999 Santa Cruz Bullit My first duallie. I had a Marzocchi Z1 (what else) Grip shift and of course Rhino Lights. I broke both ends and Santa Cruz was awesome about replacement.

2002 Specialized Big Hit
2002 Norco Torrent Still have it. Solid!
2003 Specialized Big Hit
2004 Specialized Demo 9
2005 Specialized Demo 8
2005 Specialized SX Trail

I ride the SX most. It's a fantastic bike. It sort of takes me back to the Bullit but it's a much more refined ride and it climbs like a demon. The Big Hits - the 24" rear wheelers - were such amazing bikes for the money. With a platform shock the small wheel wasn't even an issue either.

I haven't had a road bike since the Cannondale was swiped but I will soon rectify that.

I've also got a 1980 Schwinn Cruiser and a Trek bmx. Is it possible to have enough bikes?

I remember being on one of the lines below skull - back in the 90s sometime - and someone rolled through on a Trimble. There are two lines and this was the one further west. There is a straight shot through the roots as well as one where you drop in off a rock and the gentleman on the Trimble rolled straight through nicely.

Was that you by any chance?

Strange the things I remember.

well, the general timeframe was right, though i can't recall that very moment. i do remember racing the test of metal on seymour on that bike one year; snapping my rear brake cable and having to ride severed with a front brake only. good times.

do you have a pic of the old ritchey? i love the vintage fillet brazed steel - i used to lust after the rocky wedge, team toad, brodie romax...

2001 Norco sasquatch - First real mountain bike

2002 Planet-x bommer - 43lbs hardtail.. Broke in half, got a new one and sold it.

2002 Norco 4x4 - Rode it for a week and sold it. Didnt like it very much.

2003 Norco Shore - Rode for a season, angles always felt to steep for me. Sold it.

2003 .243 - Rode for a season then sold it.

2004 Endless Lifetime - Still own it. Greatest hardtail ive ever ridden still. Ride everything from xc to dh on it.

2004 Santa Cruz V10 - Still own it, never ride it. It sits 300+km away collecting dust.. maybe this summer it will get more time. Great bike though, going to find a 99,01,02 monster to put on it for the upcomming season. My boxxer is beat.

Hmmm. No wonder why im poor.

Hmmm...love these threads...

First bike that I can remember was a red huffy bmx
Then I rode a cruiser style dept store bike
...and then I found mountian biking...

Diamond Back Apex was my first bike (the bike pictures is a year or two after my bike..but same colour..hehe):
http://pedalhounds.com/modules/gallery/albums/album01/diamondback1988pg4_5B.sized.jpg

Then I had a Specialized M2 Team (mine had Marz forks..the ones with all the holes in the legs..haha.)
http://www.birdieman.com/pi/2005/2005_09_06bikes/20050906SpecializedM203.jpg

Then I made some bad decisions and lost that bike (too bad...best bike ever..) and did not ride for many years. I bought a buddies Marin bike...fake Ti paintjob, was a fun little bike...but it got stolen.

Then my now wife bought me a 1999 Specialized FSR comp (first new bike). I broke 2 of these frames and they replaced my 2nd frame with one like this (not my bike, mine had more BS ready parts on it..hehe..)
http://trekalized.net/images/tkbike_gr.jpg

I sold that bike pretty quick...Specialized Canada said they would not warranty any more bikes for me...and my experience with them was less than good.

So...I decided to get a surly Instigator...something different and strong..
http://www.cycletechinc.com/sram/FM3030.jpg

After getting tired of riding a hardtail I sold that bike and got my current bike (pictured here with my commuter bike)...
