Up on GHY tonight:

Go Huck Yourself is proud to announce “The Gathering” – 2006. This nationally recognized mountain bike event is returning to Renton, Washington on Friday, January 27th and Saturday, January 28th. This year’s competition CANNOT BE MISSED!

If you’ve been under a rock for the last year and this is the first time you’ve heard about The Gathering, here’s what it’s all about:

•Two night indoor event featuring the best dirt and street riding around.
•More than 40 of the best riders in the world alongside northwest locals.
•Live music from hot local bands and DJ’s.
•Expanded Product Expo hosted by Industry Sponsors like FSA, Evil/E. Thirteen, Transition, Simple Bike Co., Deity Components, Smith Optics, Norco, and many others.
•HUGE Raffle featuring more than $4,000 in products including bikes, frames, parts, and apparel.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly a year since we packed the Bill Lampheer’s Wide Open Sports Arena and Skatebarn West with the world’s best Mountain Bikers, local rippers, and dedicated fans. We’re excited to return to both of these awesome venues, and we’re working hard to make sure this year’s event is even better than 2005. RMC’s Wide Open Sports Arena and the Full Throttle Café have been improved for 2006, with more rooms inside the restaurant and bar and a new menu. The new course design will also be improved with more option, flow, and a beginner line. Skatebarn West now boasts room for more spectators with an expanded viewing area, new concessions, and a sweeping remodel of the riding course.

So to recap, here are the facts:

Dates: January 27 & 28 Locations: http://www.wideopensportsarena.com/ & http://www.skatebarn2.com/
Times: TBA
Cost to attend: (for spectators) $10 one night.$15 for both.$5 for kids 12 & under
Rider Registration Info: Online registration will be up soon and at the store!!!
Competition Award (Purse): $5000 dollars will be awarded throughout the event

Thanks for all the props everyone. We really really appreciate the support and encouragement. We think we learned a lot last year about how to run an event of that size, and we hope to show what we learned this year. We all are super excited about doing this again, and sponsors and pro riders alike are letting us know they're stoked as well. We will have even more great prizes to award top finishing am's, more entertainment, a larger and more diverse expo on Friday night with lots of sponsors and vendors you can visit up close and personal, and a lot more.

We really hope we see a lot of new faces this year, riding and hanging out with us, and we promise to make it a weekend to remember!

We can't tell you all how much it meant to us last year to have so much support and so many attendees, not to mention the riders and thier families who traveled from all over the US and Canada to come ride. We thank you all and also everyone who covered the event in the magazines and thier videos, sharing our great weekend with the world.

Thanks also go out to our 2006 sponsors:

is it possible to ride the jumps but not compete, or compete in like a beginner non-pro class.

Captain Crunch

Timing should be less of a problem this year, as we will be starting earlier and using different formats for the comp organization. I can't go into details yet, but there will be qualifiers, and a main. There will be a beginner am, advanced am, and Open, or "Pro" classes. There will be something for riders of most abilities.

One or more spines will return for a limited engagement for The Gathering.

Hotel deals this year are available through the Hilton Garden Inn for $69 a night. All rooms have microwaves and fridges, the hotel has a restaurant and small bar. You get a discount on eating there too, and there's airport shuttles, as well as shuttles to local restaurants, and shopping. Good luck and Godspeed.

I was so bent at you guys for sneaking through, but I don't think I could have done much anyway, so really I couldn't even be mad. But i was anyway, I'm irrational like that. I moved now, and have more room (still floor, but waay cleaner!) so you and Brodie can easily come a day early if you want and help out. We need all the strong backs we can get for the digging shifts.

Looking forward to seeing you guys again soon. Have a Merry Christmas too!

I hope people's runs don't go until 1:00am or 2:00am like last year... that was F**k'n brutal.

I also heard that the Skatebarn took out the spines and added some crappy Fruitbooter wedge ramps instead. If thats the case, is it worth having a comp in that place... Captain Steve Crunch?

I was just at the skatebarn a couple nights ago and its definatly changed alot, all the spines are out and the smaller half pipe is gone. It is alot more wedge style ramps on the right side. The left side has stayed the same pretty much as before. It should be really cool to watch this year.

If the competition ends early... like say 1am, can we still ride our bikes until 2am? I mean realistically run it until 9am, I never get to ride anymore!

Yup yup. Evan right? Anyways I'd go with what steve said. I'm sure it's a big place and all but there could still be some huge business conference being held there that we don't know about. Also, it's probably easier to enter the code for the group rate online than at the desk the night of.

I havn't tried making reservations for this exact hotel, but whenever i have in the past onlike there is always a little box somewhere along the way that says group rate or business discount code or anything along those lines. maybe you missed it? if not then just do it over the old land line.
