Taking a boat to Gili Trawangan, a small island north of Lombok, east of Bali. Rough seas, took 2 hours longer than normal, people throwing up everywhere.

Normal! situations like this arose frequently, as there are really no traffic laws, stop signs/lights or anything else. If I encountered a situation like this I would just drive my motorbike on the sidewalk. no one would even look at you twice for doing this. Familes of 4 on these little bikes was normal as well, with dad driving and mom sitting sideways on the back, holding a little one.

Cruising around on Lembogan. You could rent these motorbike/scooters for $3us a day, cruise around everywhere. gas was $.30 a liter. An excellent way to get really hurt or have to bribe your way out of not having an international driver's license with the local police.

Lembogan Island, a cool little island that is hour and a half by boat east of Bali, nice spot, good surfing too.

Walking back from Dreamland to go back to our warung (small hotel) at Bingin beach. Guys surf here at low tide, over a poisonous reef on only 6" of water. Nuts. I only surfed there at high tide cuz I suck.

Sunrise at Gili Trawangan. In the background is Lombok. This island was great, no dogs, motorbikes or cars. Amazing diving, surfing and food. Oh, and you could get fresh magic mushrooms in any way, shape or form, like smoothies and omlettes. the smoothie was good ;)

Me walking down Poppies 1 in Kuta, Bali. All the streets were lined with these small shops, everyone trying to sell you whatever they could. you couldn't walk 10 feet without being hassled. Ripoff clothing was everywhere!

did you go to the monkey forest? i went to bali for a few weeks a couple of years ago. we stayed in a few places around the country but i really enjoyed the place we stayed in ubud. http://www.indo.com/hotels/tjampuhan/

it was built into the side of a cliff and there was the most amazing spa all the way at the bottom of the valley.

too bad that there has been bombings there lately. i would have never imagined that anything like that would happen there. such peaceful, beautiful people.

Yeah, you can surf there as I did! At high tide, like I said surfing there is way to hardcore during low tide.

Here's dreamland, which breaks 3 times, impossibles and bingin in the other pics. The waves literally broke at our feet at our warung (in the last pic). It actually started pissing rain that day and then a nasty current came along and I got kinda washed up on the rocks :S. I also got a few small cuts on my legs from the coral that took forever to heal and looked reallllly nasty. Dreamland is a bit nicer to stay at. Uluwatu itself is nuts, the waves are huge and lots of rocks. no pics from there, when I was there not much was happening. It should be noted that the accomidations are kinda dirty, cold water and only a squat toilet and a "mandi" to bathe with. oh, and you have to buy T.P.

Hey Diggs, Do you have a polarizing filter? It looks like from some fo the pics you could use one.

Helps cut through the haze and glare of water. If you don't have one, check one out.

For all my sailing stuff it really helped with colors and reflection. In combination with a UV filter it adds some protection to the lens as well.
