If you need to ask these questions, it might be best to hook up with a local builder and help out for a while before starting a new trail without the knowledge to do it right.
Loops has pretty unique landscape most of the things we do on the coast dont apply out your way. I say just ride Harper/Greenstone and copy the stuff you see there.

you should be asking local builders ... volunteer to help them out however you can til you learn the ropes.
you'll learn about 1000X more this way than reading some internet site ...

I read an article in Bike magazine not too long ago about the crackdown on illegal trail building in the Kamloops area. You might want to check with a local or ask at a bike shop (Bike Cafe) on the politics of the area that you intend to build. It would be a shame to screw things up for everyone by building in a troubled area.
PM Loopie, I'm sure he can fill you in on the goods.
There is mountain bike trails in Richmond?

No way the City has approved a bike trail. Either you asked incorrectly (they didn't grasp what you were asking to do exactly) and/or you asked the wrong person/dept. (in which case that person had no authority to answer you) IMHO :)
(if you want a more accurate opinion from me about your location, you can PM me the info if you like)
I see you're asking what to build, but are you also asking how[I] to build a structure? You'll have to study existing structures but most of all, understand why and how it works. And be able to tell good from bad I suppose.
My stuff is about as simple as I can build them...yet they are solid. I'll post up some pics.
FLOW. Hopefully you have the ability to envision the terrain and to [I]feel how it'll go. The last thing you want is to do a bunch of work and then wish you did it different...or HAVE to do it different.
There's a saying "measure twice, cut once". I have one of my own... "Look at it a hundred times from 20 different angles, then start the section".
Got a truck?
How much lumber have you collected and what exactly?
Got at least $50 worth of 3 1/2" galvanized spiral nails to get you started?
A good rake and shovel..and a good saw?
How old are you?
I'd take you out there with me, but I'm not sure how more I'll be getting to this yr.

I know how to support bridges really well I was just woundering what type of stuff people like on the trail I now what I like but I not the only one riding it
We three large freezer bages full of outdoor nail at least 3 inches long some 4 and 5
We are only 14 and 15 so we dont drive so we have been backpacking and wheel dorrowing and caring all are wood up we also use good dead trees
We have 2 off everything saw, shovel, rake, hamer, rock pole, wheel dorrow

that the right start.
trail building is trial and error. You have to be ready to make some mistakes and rebuild when you do.
def study how other good structures are built and start from there. from personal experience I can say its prolly a good idea to get some support from other rider/builders just to keep good vybes flowing..
otherwise people might you think you are some wierd reclusive sob.

I know there are ranchers ;)
Actually, the rancher in control of the land where the existing trails are in Aberdeen (from the tower and between the power line and the school) is VERY against structures for liability reasons. A few yrs back he cut everything down. I heard it was due to being sued by some kids Dad. (or threatening to be sued)
Yeah dont build up there, you get caught your in trouble. That Rancher is not keen on Mtn bikers riding on the mountian.
