I don't know if any of you guys have seen this or read it in Whistler's news paper, but it seems that Stacy Kohut wants to run for Mayor of Whistler.
I think that would be pretty cool, and it sure would make for one heck of a mayoral race.
I'll post the link in one sec...
edit: Here it is.

Thats kinda cool actually. Not sure what political background he has, but from these boards (even though he comes accross kinda harsh) its safe to say he definitely has some good leadership skills and isnt afraid to speak his mind.

... and isnt afraid to speak his mind.
That would be the understatement of the century.

The article sounds like Mr. Kohut knows a thing or two but he has a track record of being quick tempered and abrasive. It will be interesting to see the support he gets.
Id vote for him because at least you can believe what he has to say unlike most other people in politics.
The interesting thing though is what are the rules for voting for a municiple election. Do you have to be a resident or home owner? Im sure if their are more renters who live in whistler than owners (full time) and if that is the case its all about who gets the vote out.

I believe they usually hold satellite voting in West Van to make it easier for all of the second home owners who live in Vancouver. I don't mind second home owner being able to vote, but I feel that they should be required to do so in Whistler. If they aren't willing to drive for 90 minutes, they don't deserve a say in who wins.
This election is turning into a freak show. There are already 6 candidates, and there will probably be a couple more by the time the election happens. So far, it's nicely divided between 3 candidates who have polical experience and 3 who do not. As of now, no famous Hollywood actors have yet entered the race.

wrong, you can only vote in one area, if you have two houses you have to pick which one you want to vote in

you can vote in the whistler election as long as you pay taxes there.
Which seems to me to be fair.
