I need to buy a float R rear shock. One quote I got at a vancouver bike shop was $450....yikes. It is much cheaper from a US online shop. Would anyone reccomend a online shop to order from? I am thinking PUSH although they use UPS to ship and I understand UPS's brokerage fees are super high. PUSH does include shipping though.

UPS does not have abnormal brokerage rates.
And even if they did, you are looking at maybe $50, if that. Not a big deal given what you are spending.
If you don't want to pay brokerage, find it locally.

UPS does not have abnormal brokerage rates.
But they still suck. Their brokerage is based on a percentage of the value of the item. Doesn't take them any more time to process a diamond ring than a box of pop tarts, but they'll happily charge you more for it.
Canada Post is $5 flat rate. Check with Push and see if they can send it USPS insured - insurance is like $4, and then you pay another $5 (plus duty) to Cda Post when it gets here. Regular mail will be slower than a courier, but I've still gotten stuff to my door from California using USPS in 5 days.

you can probably get whatever shipping you want, FedEx has been pretty good for me, a lot better than UPS. What about buying used? Check the Sports Swap, Sports Junkies etc... sometime people swap air shocks for coil-overs. Also, don't forget to check the dimensions (ie eye-to-eye and stroke length)

call UPS and tell them you'll clear it yourself.... or ship it over the border.

Greenfish Sports (http://www.greenfishsports.com/) has some amazing deals sometimes. Don't know about their track record though.

I have had good experience with Supergo and CBO. Have it shipped to one of the places in Pt Roberts (http://www.thelettercarrier.com/) or Blaine and bring it into Canada yourself. You will avoid brokerage but you have to pay the GST.

I would call and request it to be shipped USPS if at all possible.
Anything you ship from the states via courier service can be subjected to very high brokerage fees. I once had a golf club shipped, that by the end of the day with shipping costs and taxes, duties, and brokerage fees came to $120. I almost died!! So much for that "great deal".
If you are stuck using courier, choose on that uses FedEX. They seem to have the lowest brokerage fees.
But by all accounts, exhaust the postal option (USPS) first, because all you'll pay is taxes on your shipment. It may take a little longer, but cheaper is why you are buying online in the first place I gather.
