hi wondering if any of you guys have any info on the giant DH comp. how will it be if i use it for mostly whistler and some shore? :fu: how does the frame handle is it reliable the spec looks pretty good but are there any durability issues? how do the boxxers work ive only ever ridden marz but ive heard that the rockshox's feel alot different but are better. just wondering if its a good bike thanks

It is a sweet ride. It is what I use. Whistler or the shore will be no problems for this bike. Running a Slider on mine, so can't comment on the BoXXers though. The chainguide is smaller than on the earlier models and is wayyyyy better! Check bolts once in awhile. Sometimes they come loose. Loctite fixes that. Get the damn bike. You'll not be sorry!!

the only thing is that i will have to sell my g spot then whitch i bought for all round bike but then i bought a hardtail so i just use it for whistler and shore so i guess the giant would be better for whistler and about the same for shore i like to go fast so that gives the giant a hand up and the giant has a nice part spec diabolus, easton, and such

Well it certainly won't have the shore ability of your G-spot when it comes to the tight stuff, it's a long wheelbase DH sled. That being said I think it's a great bike. A friend of mine rides an 02 and other than some initial shock troubles (02s came with an RS rear shock) he's had no problems and is mostly on original parts. Giants always come well spec'ed for the money. I wouldn't worry about the boxxer, it'll require a bit more maintence than a Marzocchi but if you stay on top of that it should last years.

what will i have to do maintnence wise to the boxxer and how often?

change the the oil every 3-4 months, or when ever it doesnt feal right. boxxers are also very eazy to work on.
i used to have a giant dh team and i loved it. i rode to for shore all the time and never found it too long, but i also had a 24" rear wheel.

i know cove is selling them for 4500 or somthing so how much should i expect to pay for slightly used? and how does the re sell value hold up on them?

Don't know what "bump" means, but I'm guessing a good used one should be around $3k or cheaper. Like almost every other bike they take a shit kicking if "used"

Bump just means Cove Rider wants more people to view his post, so he puts in a random response to get his thread to the top of the page.

i ride a dh team, its a wicked bike. i got complete faith (haha oh, the pun) in giants ability to throw together a wicked bike after riding one for a season and a half. i'd say go for it, but i might be selling mine soon. school is getting the best of me. it's definitely not a reflection of the bike, if you have the opportunity to try one out id throw a leg over one and take it for a spin.
only downside is the linkage can scrape since it hangs down low, and the chainguide compatibility is a bit of a pain. but thats all stuff you can deal with/work around.
