How much do these tires tend to normally go for at your lbs? In particular the minions and high rollers both 42a and 60a on the old durometer scale. I just wanna double check to see if i'm right in the proper price range from the couple of shops that i have already checked out. thanks

I bought my tires @ Overtime two months ago. 2.7 Mobster Sticky and a 2.5 Highroller Sticky for $50 each.
Keep in mind that Maxxis tires measure WAY on the small side of Michelins or even Kenda for the same numbers. A 2.5 highroller is actually smaller then my old 2.3 Gazzis

minions 2.5 ST's are on sale at overtime for $55....pretty decent price, considering some shops sell for $80/90 or more

yah exactly my shop's sticker price was at 100 for one, but i was talking to them and they said 80 for me. I i was wondering how much the other places had them for. Might just make a trip to mec on the way home from school one day as coquitlem is too far away.
i paid $10us each for my 42a 2.3" high rollers from jensonusa

i think overtime was selling those before for $25 bucks. although i have never tried the 2.3, if there as good as the 2.5 that's a smoking deal.

they range from around 70-100 if you get the double ply casing w/butyl insert....(thicker walls) and about half of that if you buy the thin walled version [usually without the orange band]

They will run you about 80-100 apiece.
My advice is that if you are thinking about the 42A super tacky, to only put this tire on the front and a 60 durometer on the rear. You can now buy the 2.5 size in 60A without the red stripe if you want it to match a 42A on the front. If you put a soft compound tire on the back, the treads will rip off in no time.
Just be aware that you will never actually wear down a 42A tire (unless you ride on pavement). The treads will start to crack and rip off long before they wear out. If you ride hard, the soft compound tire will last only about 3 months or so, where you will likely get a full season out of the 60 version.
I ride a 42A on the front with a 60A on the back. Excellent combo, but change the 42A supertacky version up front halfway through each season.

^^^Supervokes, that was exactly what I was thinking of doing. My current bike came with 42a supertacky minions and although i really liked the amount of traction i got the supertacky on the back and front they just died too fast. SO I was wanting to try a 60a 2ply minion 2.5 on the back and a 2.7 minion supertacky on the front which is what i already have.
i think overtime was selling those before for $25 bucks. although i have never tried the 2.3, if there as good as the 2.5 that's a smoking deal.
its a very small 2.3... reminds me of the 2.0" xc tires i used to ride way back in the day. but it is quite sticky, and sidewalls are quite heavy duty as well

One thing I have to say about the rear sticky Minions in Kamloops: Horrible.
Actually, let me re-phrase that: Horrible braking traction, decent cornering grip.
All Maxxis sticky rubber tires wear extremely fast, and I don't slide very often. A day of riding and I can see the sharp edges rounding out. The High Rollers especially, probably because of the smaller surface area (less knobs). Even with how fast they wear, you'd think they'd be grippier than they are, but they're not really. In the dry they're better surprisingly.
