My rotor had something rubbing with a metal object

so I took the pads out to find out that the spring clip was bent out of shape, and teh pads were pretty warn out

Thing was I recall there were 2 spring clips, but I only found one when I pulled it out, and it was pretty bent out of shape as mentioned.

what do I do?

There is only one spring clip in avids that holds both pads in, can you bend it back into shape? How bad is the rubbing?

the rubbing was really bad
it was metal to metal rubbing with the rotor and I guess it was the clip

I just looked at the clip again, and noticed one of the legs were cut off.

the koolstop avid mech. pads are $14.25 at MEC (working great in my front brake, can't tell the difference from avid original) and come with the metal spring clip.

you won't notice a difference until you need them :S
I have some buds who skimped out on pads once....

Anywho, you might want to get a new rotor if your stock one is gouged from the metal on metal action.

thanks guys.

Well, the rotor seems to be fine. It only rubbed when I walked the bike to the hallway in my house.

i'll probably get the koostop pads tomorrow
