I'm looking to change the fork on my scream, but I'm not really sure of what kind fork to get. what are the pros and cons of Dorados and Shivers? I'm guessing the dorados would win hands down on quality, and for the fact that you can get new ones. I'm also looking at Boxxers as a third choice. so any info on these forks would help.

Dorados are stiffer and lighter. Both forks have great damping.

8" Boxxer. Much stiffer laterally (where it counts) than the other two, easier to service and as reliable or more so, lighter, less expensive, multiple models, not as much dive as an inverted. The Shiver is the diving champ.
boxxers are sick, that need less maintence then the Dorado, have more travle then the shiver, and there the lightest.

all of those forks are similar.
Shiver if you want to set and forget
Dorado for pure performance but a lot of maintenence
Boxxer if you're not a big guy (though I haven't ridden one since the 04)
I've always thought the the Shiver wins out overall (and that's what I've been riding since 04 when I ditched the boxxer)

I'd say Boxxer or Dorado. Safety there is literally NO maintenance with the new Dorados. Mine have been in to OGC for a couple upgrades and thats about it. You'll be lucky to find a Dorado though, and are pretty pricey. Best bang for the buck is going to be the Boxxer.
TPC vs Zochi feel, IMO its all in what feels best to the rider but they do feel very different.

boxxer, light stiff and great suspension feel. I can't wait to get a 05 or 06 wc, time to upgrade the 03 wc.

04 and older....not a chance up here if you're pushing it at all. Except racing only I suppose.
I'm out of the loop on lots of things for the 05 season tho...no idea and I haven't heard much on the 05 Boxxers.

You know what's funny, the newer Team/WC Boxxers ('03 and up) are far better internally than the older ones. The old ones are not the "good" models like some people may think. The newer models have real adjustments, the oil doesn't get no where near as contaminated, and they are far more reliable and easier to service. There's no glide rings anymore, seals last longer, bushings are longer, and the fork is stiffer. Plus, they are less expensive.
Telling us that it won't last in Kamloops? Are you serious?? Have you ridden Cypress? You obviously don't race at all, because racing is very hard on your equipment. You're pushing it to the limit.
Other than the DH course at Sun Peaks, I doubt there's anything in Kamloops that would be harder on equipment than the Shore. I'd like to see what you call pushing it. Where do you get this misinformation?

I guess what I meant to say is that you don't see many Boxxers on the local go-big riders bikes up here.
Waynes not fucking around thats for sure.
For heavy guys who like slow forks the old boxxers were hard to dial in. I have no feedback on anything newer though.

I dunno why, but just to be different than what everybody else is saying, have you tried fox 40's or any other brand like Risse? http://www.risseracing.com/forks.shtml

I'm thinking of getting some 03' shivers cause they look pretty solid, but after scouring the internet for some info, I could'nt find out how much they weigh (not that it's too important I just wanna know) and how easy it is to get them serviced. I'm riding some slider +'s right now and I love the plush, smooth travel they have but they're not enough fork for me, can I expect the same for the smoothness and whatnot for shivers? would it be a good investment to get them in the long run? anyway I didn't wanna start a new thread.
used shiver is a solid choice...
u shouldnt have problems getting em serviced nearly anywere...
inverted forks always ride plush, cuz there lubricated well due to the design.
p.s. just make sure the forks steerer/upper crown will fit your frame.

Yup! I've owned two Shivers in my day and I loved them dearly...In fact, I'm riding one right now! Piss-simple to service (for guys like Rob Page) and also quite simple for a clown like me. Wicked fork. On top of that, Zokie is no longer making them so it will become a collectors item. Buy it. Use it. Love it.
There are some on this board who have turned their back on the Shiver. Names will not be mentioned but they did go to 888 and apparently, they like it. Personally, I think they're full of it as the Shiver is twice the fork a 888 will ever be. Listen to your inner-voice and feed his need. Go ahead, stroke a Shiver and feel it's sexiness. Notice how it slides up and down...almost like sex. The Shiver is one sexy bitch. You may not need a girl in your life when you start to stroke a Shiv. Ohhhh yeah...time for a stroke.

One of the funniest things I've read on this board. I laughed so hard I had a coughing fit.
the shiver is the only marz fork that i would ride. it's the only one with a good axle to crown hight, and it's not extreamly heavly.

i have a shiver and like it very much. I have also ridden a 03 monster t , o1 boxxer,04 jr t, and some single crowns..the shiver was way better all around than the rest..cant beat the monster t for plush but I stopped doing 35 footers when I turned 35 so Im alright on the shiv..it climbs really good, its maitenance free year around and it looks damn sexy..

A little birdie told me that they will continue to make the Shiver next season, but in VERY low volume like the 05s (there were only 100 2005 models made). Just like the Monster, the Shiver is too popular to kill. BTW, this birdie was also carrying a paycheck with a giant red 'M' on it.

I think they are were only 100 for North America. A guy I was talking to from the UK this summer said that wasn't true (I asked) because he said it was really easy to get, and tonnes of shops have them over there.
Don't know what's really going on though. It all seems to be rumours.
