View Full Version : Fox 40 Weight Vs. 888 - The "REAL" weight difference???

I am thinking of changing out the fork on my bike from a 888 to a Fox 40 but was wondering if somebody can provide me the ACTUAL weight comparison of each fork.

The 888 lists their weight "without the steerer tube".

However, what I am looking for is the actual weight of both forks fully built up with the steerer tubes and stem's installed (integrated stem on 888)

How much weight can realistically be expected to be dropped by changing from the 888 to the Fox 40?

** Also I will need to change the stock spring in the Fox 40 which I believe will increase the weight at well as the heavier (and lighter) springs are not titanium.

So how many lbs. in the end (if any) can be shaved (including steerer tubes and stems in the equation) between the 2 forks.

Thanks

Which 888? RC or VF? Or are they the same weight?

I don't have a 100% accurate scale at work, but I could measure the difference for you perhaps.

doesnt matter if the scale is accurate because its the differnce of the weight. so long as its consistant itd work fine

Yeah, if anybody could provide me the weights, I would appreciate it.

From all of the research I have done, I am estimating a difference in weight of only about 100-200 grams.

QUESTION: Why does everybody Slam the 888 saying that it is too heavy, when you compare it to other forks (ie fox 40), the weight is almost identical???????
I don't get it??????

Ive never heard anyone slam the 888 for its weight on mostly for how tall it is. Also for most people the 40 would be lighter wiht its ti spring.
