Hi all,
I'm getting a new frame very soon and don't like the stickers/decals on it. I'm wondering what the best way is to remove them without leaving residue or screwing up the paint. I've heard using a blowdryer...does that work? Are there any other options?
Get your hands on a product called, Goo Gone. I've posted about this crap before but believe, me squirt some on, let it sit for a bit, and peel er off. Then squirt more on and get rid of that residue. Goo Gone can be purchased at your local TSC Store. (Yes, I am in the marketting deprtment of TSC Stores)

depends on the frame maker...
alot of todays frames are painted with the decals under the clear coat... so removing the decals without wrecking the paint isnt a option...
but if the decals are ontop of the finish u should be ok to heat em up and then deal with any decal adhesive with products like the above mentioned goo-gone or similar....
p.s. bike makers spend ALOT of time and energy designing frames and decal kits u should leave them on...if you like the brand of bike enuf to purchase it u should also be proud enuf to give the company the props by leaving the decals.....

lighter fluid also works, or at least it says it does on the bottle.

and he is spending lots of money on the frame so he can do whatever he wants.
alcohol works for getting the glue off

It's an '05 black BigHit under warranty (I cracked my old one at the head tube). It'll still say "Specialized" on it, I just don't want those red flames on there. It doesn't suit my components. I think I'm going to just use the hairdryer, pull the stickers at a 90 degree angle, then use alcohol to remove the rest. If it's still a problem, I'll purchase the Goo-Gone. Do you think Rona has it? Maybe I can get my friend who works there to hook me up.

The flames make the bike go faster .........
I have peeled decals off using a razor blade. It takes a long time, and you have to be carefull, but it does seem to work really well.

I'm pretty sure Spec puts all their decals under the clearcoat. You'll still be able to get them out, it's just going to be pretty.
You'll know for sure soon enough.
