Fun flowy, the Manager is an option, couple bridges, leads into No Duff, Lower FT, and more Duffman...

Manager is closed again i think, a friend of mine went in to hot got bucked and fell like way far to the ladders and got helied away. lacerated liver, internal bleeding, 3 broken ribs, broken wrist and some busted toes and fingers.

Dont say its a beginer type mistake either, he is a super solid rider. I wont name names because he might be kinda embarassed or something but hes ridden pro at some comps and is real solid, just a scary line that probably shouldnt be open to the public, high consequneces.

It's not a beginner mistake, A beginner would never think of riding that line.

Healing vibes to your friend. It is a sketchy line for sure that needs to be hit Very slowly. Consequences are very high there. I ride around it...I like to ride my bike not look at it from across the room.

there is a reason that there is a stretcher just sitting there beside it.

how does gmg always find its way into threads :)

i have only done that mgr rock once and was damn lucky i didnt eat poo when touching down on the bridge below. never again for me! i prefer to go around it...

the trail as a whole is fun and quick...the mgr rock doesnt just sneak up on you (plenty of signage and warnings and ropes) so dont worry about that.

Duffman never dies, only actors who play him.

 Actually laughed pretty loud when i read that, took me a second to realise where it was from.

As for the managers victum, he's okay, should be back on the bike in a month or two.

The internal bleeding ended up being relatively minor but he did spend 3 days in the hospital.

He didnt have the best trip, his giant team dh was stolen along with my demo 9, and then he had the worst crash of his life. :(

A message from one of the Whistler Honches about 'The Manager.'

Who knows - maybe it was from the manager himself.

"The Manager should be rolled very, very slowly. Super fun line, you have to be able to controll your speed and use your head. If you aren't feeling it, don't do it. It ain't going anywhere. It is open, by the way."

Hey Jay, I'll show you how to ride this beauty safely. Look me up next time you're up here.

I haven't ridden it, but from those pics it looks pretty easy. Is there something at the end of the ladder?

there is a camelhump above it that you have to roll slowly and offcambre to that is the roll in the pic. the hardest part is the slowdown and lineup for the pictured roll. i took it way to speedy and almost paid in blood for it. i have seen people air the entire thing and while they make it look easy, i wouldnt do it :P

i find it amusing that one of the shortest and smoothest faces on garbo causes the most problems...part of the charm i guess.

There is a wide bridge to a mellow slick rock followed by a another wide bridge. Super flowy. Here a pic.

I just rode Duffman for the first time yesterday and I think it has to be the most fun trail on the mountain. Very "shore like" if you are a little oldschool like me.

I was going to post about the trail to say how fun it was but you already beat me to it.

If you haven't done it go for it... it's a hoot.

Cheers,
JdanS

Rode Whistler today - seemed empty compared with last week. Manager is open, but I didn't ride it. This is the first time I've been riding Whistler that it's been open. Rode by it on previous occasions and tought "I'd hit that for sure." Put the bike down and walked up to the "roll down". No f'n way!!! That sucker is STEEP  . Might give it a shot if I saw somebody else do it, but not on my own.

Speed does look to be the key though. A little quick and it's nose manual time - or hospital time. Not much room for error.

Apparently the Manager claimed more people than the rest of the park combined when it was opened last year. I can't understand why either ... what are people doing wrong? Its not difficult, just go slowly ...

Healing vibes to your buddy!

I don't think it's difficult per se, but it's kind of intense, and definately a mindfu(k. My left hand slipped on my bar in the compression, i was able to stay on, but it was kinda close. If I see ANY water on it, I won't ride it.

im another victim of the manager
luckly only a bruised knuckle

i guess thats what happens when you roll into it blind ( and yes i was going very slowly) but was like so where am i meant to roll down
oh shit here and over the bars i go from the top
i guess im lucky if its claimed so many ppl

definately hit it again now that i know what it looks like
