You might want to call Arrowsmith Cycles on East Island Highway and see what they can suggest. If you're going to Mt. Washington (45 min north on the new highway) you can rent there of course. Most of Parksville is XC territory though. A full on DH machine is a lot to pedal - I do it every year and I've pedalled ALL OVER the area.

According to Arrowsmith, no shops in that area rent due to high insurance costs. Looks like a good excuse to go to Mt.Washington instead...

You won't be disappointed, even if it is more $$ than previous years. Usually there is hardly anybody there.
