Free pallets available, they seem to be made from good wood.
Pick up @ #2-1871 Fern St. (Victoria), they're in the driveway.
Enjoy!

Why not make a nice cedar stake, and tie them to it. Then pile pallets around the stake and light it up!

Harsh.
I've used them in berms, and for erosion control features. They seem to work just fine. They also seem to do quite well as parts for portable launch ramps and landings for stunts in the city. As slats for ladders, they're obviously not a good idea.
I guess I should be looking over my shoulder for violent trailbuilders if I'm in Vancouver from now on.:S

more seriously... was there no cedar around or what?
by the time you haul pallet wood into the bush, almost anywhere on the shore, in that same time you could have scoped out some natural cedar.
and seeing as cedar should have at least 2X the lifespan of any other wood, the question is, is the trail work i'm doing so lame and un-important that i can't spend a little time and do it right?
honestly, if it ain't cedar it shouldn't be built...

Damn, that is ugly.
Anyhoo, pallets are still available for appropriate uses.
They'll be turned into a compost bin sometime soon if no-one wants them.
Happy building.

Nope, no cedar. Generally on my property or closely accessible jump spots. Obviously cedar is best for structural members in remote areas that see alot of use, but not all structures are all of the above.
I guess I've never taken the time to drag anything into the "bush," it's generally a big 'ol waste of time for the riding style I like to encourage out there.
Blah, blah, blah. Anyone want pallets?

can't you return them and get money for them? I know at my work that if anybody wants to take a pallet with them they have to give us a $25 deposit.

it looks terrible and i don't like the way its built and it should not be built out of commercial lumber scrap but truthfully that ladder is quite smooth

on some site I was a pic of a ladder that had duct tape holding it together and little tiny rungs about a foot apart, I'll see if I can find the pic
