View Full Version : Just need to vent
The unthinkable has happened to me on saturday. In relation to the recent thread about intermediate riders on A-line, I was involved in a freak accident as a result of someone riding irresponsibly. We just finished up fatcrobat and cameout to expressway. So my buddy took off and about few seconds later I followed him. I kinda took it easy on expressway to avoid pinch flat from my past experience but unless you're riding your brakes you're still going at a good clip on expressway. Out of nowhere, someone was blazing by me and he was trying to pass my buddy in front. Just when I was entering into the last sweeping right hander, another rider tried to pass me on the outside and clipped my handlebar. I went down immediately, slid about 20-30ft on my back (thank god for body armor) but still ended up with a big hole just above my kneecap from the impact. The rider stopped and apologize saying that it was a bad move trying pass me on the outside and he was just trying to catch up to his buddy. 8 stitches later and currently on crutches, I am really upset that something like this could happen to me and will probably happen again to someone in the future. Don't really know what else to say other than keep your eyes open all the time.

That was you? i was talking to your friend outside of the Clinic. im soory to hear that man, it was my frist time up at whistler, and there were soo many injuried most could have been avoided forsure, the main thing i did all well actualy 3 Runs, befoer my buddy peged a tree and had to hit the clinic, was if i came up behind some one i would slow down, and just relax, if and in a clear area i would announce that i wanted to pass and waited for the person to move over or w.e. people need to realize so what if your stuck behind a slow person, next run up be smarter and wait an extra 45 or so secconds before droping in after the person infront of you.
Healing vibes to you man, hope your feelin better..

Shit ..Stuff like that sucks. That is a really fast "run".I think you're talking about the run into D1 or Too Tight?? I don't think people should be trying to pass others along there. So dry, it's too easy to drift wide and if someone is trying to pass you he'll nail you for sure. hope you heal up fast=]

one of the most difficult things i have ever read
the dude admitted he made a mistake and said sorry...
I gave him credit for that and he waited and also gave his information to the bike patrol.
heal up buddy...
i heard of your "incident" from Timmigrant down at the village...
hopefully you'll be back on the hill soon..
this summer has been pretty hard on the crew... :dizzy: :dead:

that sucks! people should be able to ride the trails up there without fear of getting hurt from someone else's stupidity. at least the guy gave his name to the patrol, hopefully they'll do something about it - i'm sure that wasn't much of a consolation to you though :(
hope you're back on the trails soon.

You only did 3 runs? I'd ditch buddy and keep riding. Sounds like you wanted an excuse to quit riding for the day.
And you coming up behind someone? Hahahahah, ok...

It is dangerous to pass on there. I also learned the hard way. I was follow my friend brad and he passed these two guys so I was follow behind him. the first rider slid out abit on the dry stuff so i went straight into his back. pushed him forward about another 10 or 15 feet, i went up and over the bars then landed on my shoulder and back. I was wearing a sleaveless T so i am abit ripped up today, thats why I am hear and not riding but ya, dont make a pass around corners on expressway
If you are on here, the guy that I hit. Sorry it was a dumb move

Healing Vibes Anthony. I hope you're back riding before the expected recovery date. Besides the tear was there any other damage, like to tendons, muscles etc? The part that sucks the most is that Anthony is a wicked rider, always rides within his abilities ... I don't think I've ever seen him put a wheel wrong, never an ass on the trail ...

As soon as I can drive, I'll shuttle you guys on the regular thursday ride. I'll bring my cooler filled with beers.
PS. Tim, the x-ray's were ok. They did not say any bone or joint damage and I hope there's no tendon/muscle damage.
